Stable fluorescent organic nanosticks were fabricated via a facile ionic self-assembly (ISA) route through complexation between p-aminoazobenzene hydrochloride (AzoHCl) and sodium deoxycholate (NaDC) molecules in solution. Transmission and scanning electron microscopic (TEM and SEM) observations and fluorescence spectroscopy techniques were used to characterize the nanostick structure and the self-assembling mechanism.
