A novel colorimetric and fluorescent chemosensor based on a rhodamine 6G phenylurea conjugate showed highly selective and sensitive recognition toward acetate ions in H2O-CH3CN (1 : 1, v/v) with fluorescence intensity change and also clear color change from pink to colorless in the presence of Fe(III) ions.
