For the first time, alpha-emitter radioisotope Bi-213 has been incorporated into porphyrin chelates, with rates matching with the short period of the radionuclide. An in situ transmetalation mechanism involving the daughter isotope Pb-209 is expected to boost the Bi-213 radiolabeling process.
