Summary: In this study, both enantiomers of a one-handed helical molecule with an o-arylene-ethynylene skeleton were prepared using a planar chiral [2.2]paracyclophane, and the helicity of the molecule was controlled by its planar chirality. Excellent chiroptical properties, especially intense circularly polarized luminescence with a high g(lum) value on the order of 10(-2), were observed.

Summary: The study presents a novel strategy for depositing a sub-monolayer of enantiopure thia[4]helicene radical cations on a pre-functionalized Au(111) substrate, maintaining both the paramagnetic character and the chemical structure of these molecules at the nanoscale. Synchrotron-based X-ray natural circular dichroism confirms the preservation of the handedness of the thia[4]helicene on the surface.

Summary: This work describes a bilayer resonant planar chiral metamaterial (PCM) composed of positive and negative Z-shaped gold nanoparticles, which exhibits significant optical active and chiral near-field enhancement in the near-infrared region. The chiral response is analyzed using the linear superposition method, and the dependence of the CD spectra on the PCM parameters is explored. The proposed bilayer PCM array not only has a strong chiral signal but also is easy to prepare, with potential applications in chiral molecular biosensing and asymmetric information transmission.

Summary: The aggregation of perylene diimide tethered pillar[5]arene derivatives in non-polar solvents induces chirality transfer upon complexation with cationic amino acid ethyl ester, resulting in intense circular dichroism signals. The chiral induction shows a threshold dose effect, only occurring above a certain concentration of the amino acid ester. The inhibition of conformational interconversion in the aggregates plays a crucial role in this threshold effect.

Summary: This report describes the synthesis of a series of cyclophanyl-derived mono- and binuclear N,C-palladacycles through regioselective ortho-palladation of amine-functionalized [2.2]paracyclophanes. The formation of planar and central chiral N,C-palladacycles was achieved in a highly selective manner using Pd(OAc)(2) followed by LiCl and modular treatment of different phosphines. The regioselective ortho-palladation mono- and bimetallic products were confirmed by detailed spectroscopic techniques, mass spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray analysis.

Summary: In the course of a synthetic project on cyclic diferrocenylphosphines, planar-chiral diferrocenyl compounds were obtained as precursors for subsequent cyclization. The crystal structures of two symmetric compounds were reported, one containing four stereogenic centers and the other being a purely planar-chiral compound. Reactions performed on these compounds strongly favored one ferrocene unit over the other due to diastereoselectivity, demonstrating the impact of stereochemistry on reactivity.

Summary: We report the first near-amorphous n-type conjugated polymer with decent electron mobility, featuring a remarkably rigid, straight, and planar polymer backbone. The polymer is the alternating copolymer of double B <- N bridged bipyridine (BNBP) unit and benzobisthiazole (BBTz) unit. It shows a decent electron mobility of 0.34 cm(2) V-1 s(-1) in organic field-effect transistors. The excellent electron transporting property of the polymer is possibly due to the ultrahigh backbone stiffness, small pi-pi stacking distance, and high molecular weight.

Summary: Testing nine [2]paracyclo[2](5,8)-quinoliphane derivatives to find new simple organic molecules generating circularly polarized luminescence (CPL), the study observes asymmetry ratios g of the order 10^(-3) in luminescence, similar to the absorption case. TD-DFT calculations provide insight into the molecular orbitals responsible for transitions in the observed signals of these molecules, explaining the behaviors of the |g(lum)|/|g(abs)| ratios.

Summary: Little genomic data is available for typhoid fever from island nations. Sikorski et al. studied 306 Typhi genomes from the Samoan Islands and found a dominance of a rare genotype and no drug-resistant strains. It suggests that the lack of antimicrobial resistance may be influenced by the microbial community in the environment and human gut. Further investigation is needed to understand the pathogen evolution and vaccination impact.

Summary: The regulation of glucose metabolism by central dopamine D2 receptors is altered in type 1 and type 2 diabetic models. In type 1 diabetic models, dopamine D2 receptor stimulation or blockade does not affect glucose levels, while in type 2 diabetic models, it causes hyperglycemia. Additionally, hypothalamic dopaminergic function and hepatic glycogenolysis are decreased in type 1 diabetic models, which reduces hyperglycemia induced by dopamine D2 receptor stimulation or blockade.

Summary: This study presents the design and synthesis of sulfated disaccharide inhibitors based on IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S), which showed potent inhibition of Sulf-2. The results suggest that IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S) is the shortest fragment size required for effective inhibition of Sulfs, and a trisulfated disaccharide is identified as the minimal fragment size of heparan sulfate for effective endosulfatase inhibition.

Summary: The self-adaptability of galvanostatic electrolysis was found to be helpful in a multistage chemo- and diastereoselective electrochemically promoted cyclodimerization of chalcones. Through a series of reductive events, densely functionalized cyclopentanes with five contiguous stereocenters were obtained (25 examples, yields up to 95%, dr values up to >20:1). Further experimental and electrochemical investigations indicated the crucial role of dynamic kinetic resolution of the aldol intermediate in the reaction mechanism.

Summary: In this study, the synthesis of functionalized benzo[a]phenazines and indazolo[2,3-a]quinolines was achieved through Rh(III)-catalyzed oxidative annulation of 2-arylquinoxalines and 2-aryl-2H-indazoles with allyl alcohols. The method showed a wide substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerance, good to high yields of annulated products, and the capability for scaled-up synthesis. A tentative mechanism of the annulation reaction was proposed based on a preliminary mechanistic investigation.
