Two univalent transition metal complexes, (mu-eta(6):eta(6)-C7H8){MnAr*-3,5-Pr-2(i)}(2) (1) and (eta(6)-C6H6)FeAr*-3,5-Pr-2(i) (2) (Ar*-3,5-Pr-2(i) = C6H-2,6-(C6H2-2,4,6-Pr-3(i))2-3,5-Pr-2(i)), that have eta(6) arene coordination were synthesized by reduction of the corresponding metal halides. The complexes are thermally stable in contrast to the corresponding Cr(I) complexes of benzene or toluene which decompose at room temperature.
