Summary: Efficient clearance of apoptotic cells is crucial for various fields, but the signaling pathways involved are not well understood. A siRNA screen identified TRPM7 as an essential calcium ion channel in the process of efferocytosis. TRPM7-mediated cationic current is necessary for maintaining phagosomal acidification.

Summary: In this study, Gd3Ga3Al2O12:Ce scintillation ceramics codoped with Me2+ (Me = Mg, Ca) were fabricated. The co-doping with Ca2+ and Mg2+ showed a synergistic effect on accelerating the scintillation process and decreasing the light yield. Among the co-doped samples, GGAG:Ce co-doped with 0.1 at% Ca2+ and 0.1 at% Mg2+ exhibited the fastest decay time and a relatively high light yield.

Summary: The study explored the mechanism and nitrogen removal performance of anammox process under different concentrations of Ca2+ and Mg2+, providing a potential method for optimization. It was found that increasing Ca2+ concentration had a positive linear relationship with TN removal efficiency, and higher Ca2+ concentration was recommended for culture medium.

Summary: Pure and alkaline earth metal elements (Mg2+, Ca2+ and Sr2+) doped NaTaO3 nanofilms were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method, showing better stability and recycling performance in wastewater treatment. The band gaps of NaTaO3 were reduced to 2.83, 3.01 and 2.96 eV after doping with Mg2+, Ca2+ and Sr2+. Mg-NaTaO3 catalyst exhibited a higher photodegradation efficiency of 80.1% for methylene blue solution under visible light irradiation and a strong inhibition effect on E. coli and S. aureus.

Summary: L-tryptophan functionalized AgNPs sensor was successfully fabricated using a one-pot synthesis method and showed selective response towards Mg2+ ions with high stability and selectivity. The sensor detected Mg2+ with a limit of detection much lower than the concentration range in human serum and demonstrated potential application in clinical diagnostics.

Summary: Microglia release various factors like cytokines, nitric oxide, and neurotrophins when activated in the brain. Intracellular Ca2+ concentration is crucial for their functions. BDNF plays a role in microglial activation and can induce sustained Ca2+ elevation. ProBDNF and mature BDNF have opposite effects on the expression of surface receptors in microglial cells, with the former possibly affecting the generation of NO via TRPM7 channels.

Summary: Researchers have designed a Li+-selective membrane by incorporating dibenzo-18-crown-6 and Trocenterdotger's Base units, which increase the free volume for Li+ transport and achieve effective separation of Li+ from Mg2+ in both static diffusion and electrodialysis. This study proposes a feasible strategy for designing highly selective membranes for Li+/Mg2+ separation.

Summary: Animal cells can regulate their volume after swelling through the regulatory volume decrease (RVD) mechanism, in which TRPM7 plays a crucial role in enhancing VSOR activity and LRRC8A expression. TRPM7 facilitates VSOR activity by increasing the expression of LRRC8A mRNA and stabilizing the plasmalemmal expression of LRRC8A protein.
