Summary: Multiple antibiotic resistance is a major hindrance in the treatment of infectious diseases. The use of nanotechnology in medicine provides a promising alternative for preventing infections from multidrug-resistant bacteria. By incorporating silver particles into thin films, the antibacterial efficacy can be enhanced, which is significant for limiting bacterial growth on hospital surfaces.

Summary: This paper analyzed the effects of polyacrylic acid (PAA) content on SiO2 films prepared by the sol-gel method using TEM, DLS, XRD, IR, SEM, and the transmission spectrum. The sol containing hollow spherical micelles can be prepared from tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and PAA as water-soluble polymer by improved Stober and template method. With the increase of PAA content, the particle size of hollow spherical silica colloidal particles increases and the quantity decreases. The transmittance of the glass increases with the increase of withdrawal speed, and the sample's transmittance decreases first and then increases with the increase of PAA content from 0.1g to 0.6g.

Summary: Ag/TiO2 thin films were prepared through the sol-gel spin coating method, and their microstructural growth behaviors were studied. The results showed that at low annealing temperatures, ring-like structures were formed, with the Ag particles detected as cubic in shape and TiO2 appearing as porous rings. The growth of Ag/TiO2 thin films increased in terms of area and junctions as annealing time increased, with varying growth rates observed over time.

Summary: SrTiO3 thin films were fabricated on glass substrates using the in-situ sol-gel-hydrothermal method. The TiO2 layer was initially deposited using the sol-gel method, followed by the diffusion of Sr2+ ions in the TiO2 layer to obtain SrTiO3 via the hydrothermal method. The prepared SrTiO3 thin films exhibited a polycrystalline perovskite structure with different surface morphologies, and the optical properties were found to be dependent on the thickness of the films.

Summary: The addition of SiO2 in the TiO2/SiO2 nanocomposite significantly enhances the photocatalytic and antibacterial abilities of the silicate coating, with the best performance observed at a SiO2 content of 15%. This is attributed to the larger surface area provided by TiO2/SiO2 Nc (15%) in the W silicate coating, which increases centers for absorption, photocatalytic reactions, and contact between the sample and bacteria.

Summary: The contamination and dispersion of antibiotics through sewage treatment plant effluents is causing the emergence of resistant bacteria, leading to a health emergency. In order to eliminate antibiotics in effluents, advanced oxidation processes, especially photocatalysis, have been used for their efficient degradation. In this study, SiO2-TiO2 fibers with a cylindrical morphology and smooth surface were obtained using sol-gel and electrospinning techniques. By doping the fibers with silver, their photocatalytic properties were enhanced, and the degradation percentage of oxytetracycline increased from 65% to 90% in 7 hours. The improved performance is attributed to the decrease in the banned band energy of SiO2-TiO2 fibers from 3.1eV to 2.5eV due to silver doping.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of long-term high-fat diet on plasma lipid profile and inflammation probability in adult rats. The results showed that high-fat diet increased body weight, food intake, intra-abdominal fat, and plasma leptin level. Additionally, it increased plasma concentrations of triglycerides, LDL, cholesterol, and IL 1-beta, while decreasing HDL level. Injection of an ER stress inhibitor reversed these changes. It suggests that long-term high-fat diet can disrupt lipid metabolism and induce inflammation through ER stress.

Summary: Heat stress and growing demand for dairy products in tropical regions can cause metabolic diseases and economic losses in dairy cows. However, the use of resveratrol (RSV) can help prevent these problems by providing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, and antimicrobial effects. RSV also improves reproductive performance and reduces methane emissions. It is important to note that the dosage of RSV is crucial, as high doses can have adverse effects. Overall, RSV polyphenol at optimal doses shows promise for preventing and treating metabolic abnormalities in dairy cows.
