Summary: The study showed that performing mild exercise in acute hypoxia does not impair myocardial systolic or diastolic functions, but rather enhances cardiac functions. There were no significant effects on left ventricular volumes, while exercise promoted cardiac systolic and early diastolic functions.

Summary: Intraoperative left ventricular diastolic dysfunction is closely associated with postoperative atrial fibrillation. Patients who develop postoperative atrial fibrillation are more likely to have abnormal left ventricular diastolic function. Baseline abnormal left ventricular diastolic function and pericardiotomy intervention are independently associated with postoperative atrial fibrillation.

Summary: Standard echocardiographic indices of diastolic function have limited diagnostic value in patients with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy and are not as accurate as invasive measurements of left ventricular end-diastolic pressure and left ventricular pre-A wave diastolic pressure. Therefore, invasive measurements should be used for optimal risk stratification and management in these patients.

Summary: Through different experimental models, the study showed that the therapeutic effect of ApoA-I mimetic on LVDD without AVS is not significant, indicating that the previously observed improvements in LVDD may be caused by the improvement in AVS.

Summary: Premature ventricular contractions (PVC) can lead to impaired left ventricular diastolic function in children, affecting their physical performance. This study found significant differences in diastolic function parameters and reduced exercise capacity in PVC children. The findings suggest that ventricular arrhythmia in young individuals may contribute to decreased filling pressure and exercise capacity.

Summary: Cardiac reserve is a widely used health indicator and prognostic tool, but assessing it in preclinical models is challenging. There is less focus on diastolic reserve compared to systolic reserve. This study aimed to determine the techniques and parameters for assessing systolic and diastolic reserves in preclinical models. The findings showed that systolic reserve can be assessed using all techniques, but current methods are ineffective for evaluating diastolic reserve in healthy mice in vivo.

Summary: This study aimed to prospectively study echocardiographic parameters in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) for 2 years. The results showed that subclinical cardiac dysfunction could be detected in IIM patients 2 years after diagnosis, and patients with polyphasic disease patterns had a higher cardiac risk compared to those with monophasic patterns.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the qualitative and quantitative contributions of conventional risk factors for the occurrence of ischemic stroke and its subtypes among West Africans. The results showed that hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes were shared risk factors for all subtypes. The occurrence of ischemic stroke in West Africans is associated with traditional vascular risk factors.
