Summary: In this study, the overexpression of CCN3 in TNBC patients was found to be associated with unfavorable outcomes. CCN3 knockdown reduced cancer stem cell formation, metastasis, and tumor growth by inhibiting the EGFR/MAPK pathway. Furthermore, CCN3 was found to activate the Wnt signaling pathway, leading to increased expression of GPNMB.

Summary: CTHRC1 plays a key role in the function of SGs in mice, with its absence leading to the disorder and reduction of the surrounding microvascular network. Administration of CTHRC1 significantly enhances SG function by inducing adjacent vascular network reconstruction.

Summary: The study demonstrated the crucial role of AFAP1-AS1 in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), showing that silencing AFAP1-AS1 and Sp1 or upregulating miR-2110 suppressed proliferation, migration, and invasion of TNBC cells. AFAP1-AS1 acted as a miR-2110 sponge to increase Sp1 expression, modulating breast cancer cell progression and tumorigenesis.

Summary: This study investigated the role of circKDM1B in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and found that its overexpression was associated with tumor stage and poor prognosis in HCC patients. Knockdown of circKDM1B suppressed cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and promoted apoptosis in HCC cells. It was discovered that circKDM1B acted as a ceRNA of miR-1322 to upregulate PRC1 expression. Overexpression of miR-1322 inhibited cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and promoted apoptosis, which was partly reversed by PRC1 overexpression. CircKDM1B knockdown inhibited tumor growth in vivo.

Summary: This study revealed that TMED3 is upregulated in LUSC tissue and correlated with pathological grade. Knockdown of TMED3 can inhibit proliferation, apoptosis, and migration of LUSC cells, and the regulation of EMT plays a crucial role in this process. Mechanistically, EZR is identified as a potential target for TMED3 to promote the progression of LUSC.

Summary: This study demonstrated that FAM110A acts as an oncogene in pancreatic cancer, promoting cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumorigenesis. HIST1H2BK was identified as a downstream target of FAM110A, and TSPAN1 was found to have a positive effect on the transcriptional regulation of FAM110A.

Summary: The study found that IPO7 expression was significantly elevated in the cancer tissues of pancreatic cancer patients. Overexpression of IPO7 promoted the proliferation, migration, and invasion of PC cells and suppressed apoptosis. Mechanistically, IPO7 facilitated the malignant phenotype of PC cells by upregulating ERBB2 expression. In addition, knockdown of IPO7 inhibited tumor growth and metastasis.

Summary: Mehra et al. investigated the role of CdGAP in prostate cancer, finding that its knockdown reduces cell motility, invasion, and proliferation while inducing apoptosis. High CdGAP expression is associated with early biochemical recurrence and bone metastasis in prostate cancer patients, suggesting CdGAP as a potential biomarker and target for prostate cancer treatments.

Summary: This review article discusses the use of triple-helical peptides as efficient tools to improve cell-biomaterial interactions in tissue engineering. Triple-helical peptides are bioactive molecules that mimic the architectural and biological properties of collagen. They have been successfully used to specifically recognize cell-surface receptors and provide cells seeded on biomaterials with controlled biological cues. Functionalization with triple-helical peptides has enabled researchers to improve cell function for regenerative medicine applications, such as tissue repair. However, this approach still remains under-explored and most functionalization strategies reported in the literature are unable to address collagen-binding receptors.

Summary: TMEM43 is elevated in pancreatic cancer and is associated with poor DFS and OS in patients. Knockdown of TMEM43 inhibits pancreatic cancer progression by decreasing the percentage of S phase and suppressing tumorigenicity. TMEM43 promotes pancreatic cancer progression through stabilizing PRPF3 and regulating the RAP2B/ERK axis.

Summary: The long-term prognosis for breast cancer patients with metastasis is very poor, and genetic alterations in tumor cells lead to cellular heterogeneity, promoting cancer cell invasion and colonization. CircRNAs play an important role in identifying disease mechanisms and developing effective treatments. However, the role of aberrant circRNA expression in breast cancer progression is still largely unknown.

Summary: The newly identified cyclic peptide Ohmyungsamycin A (OMS) exhibits significant antimicrobial effects against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and has shown promising results against non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTMs) infections as well. The study demonstrates that OMS treatment enhances the immune response and promotes proinflammatory reactions against Mycobacteroides abscessus (Mabc) infection in both immunocompetent and immunodeficient mice. Furthermore, the combination of OMS and rifabutin shows a synergistic effect against Mabc infections, suggesting the potential of OMS as an adjunctive therapeutic strategy.
