Summary: This study assessed the exposure to acrylamide in Chinese food and the associated cancer risk and disease burden. The results showed that acrylamide exposure resulted in approximately 23688.09 DALYs of cancer burden among the Chinese population. This highlights the health risks posed by dietary acrylamide exposure and the importance of policy prioritization.

Summary: This study found that women who tested positive for male microchimerism in their circulation had a reduced risk of ovarian cancer compared to those who tested negative. While the underlying mechanisms are still unknown, male microchimerism may play a role in preventing ovarian cancer.

Summary: Acrylamide, a potential carcinogenic compound, is a contaminant formed during the thermal processing of various commonly consumed foods. The health risks associated with acrylamide exposure are still not fully understood, leading to extensive research on its relationship with cancer risk. This study focused on epidemiological research, specifically examining the associations between dietary acrylamide exposure and cancer risk.

Summary: Given the strong association between obesity and endometrial cancer risk, dietary factors may play an important role in the development of this cancer. However, observational studies of micro- and macronutrients and their role in endometrial cancer risk have been inconsistent. Clarifying these relationships are important to develop nutritional recommendations for cancer prevention.

Summary: Due to their multidirectional influence, adipocytokines are currently the subject of numerous intensive studies. Significant impact applies to many processes, both physiological and pathological. Moreover, the role of adipocytokines in carcinogenesis seems particularly interesting and not fully understood. Ongoing research focuses on the role of these compounds in the network of interactions in the tumor microenvironment, with special attention on ovarian and endometrial cancer, and their potential clinical relevance.

Summary: The study revealed that endometrial cancer survivors only had a small survival deficit beyond 4 years post-diagnosis, with greater excess mortality and longer persistence for Black women and those with more advanced disease. Strategies to reduce disparities in mortality among endometrial cancer survivors will be necessary as the survivor population continues to grow.

Summary: This study identified seven joint endometrial and ovarian cancer risk loci and four novel subgenome-wide regions. Functional genomic data highlighted candidate target genes for further investigation. The research demonstrates the shared genetic relationship between endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer, calling for further studies in larger sample sets to confirm the findings.

Summary: This study aimed to verify the association between ovarian cancer (OC) and reproductive- and lifestyle-related risk factors stratified by the subtype of OC. The results showed that smoking was positively associated with high-grade serous (HGS) OC, alcohol consumption was positively associated with mucinous type (MUC), and obesity was associated with clear cell type (CLC). Further, spontaneous abortion was negatively associated with CLC, while tubal ligation, hysterectomy, and oophorectomy were associated with decreased risk of HGS. Early menarche was strongly associated with increased risk of CLC. Additionally, childbirth, oral contraceptives, and hormone replacement therapy were negatively associated with OC.

Summary: Endometrial cancer is the most common gynaecological cancer in high income countries, with a global rise in incidence. Obesity is the major underlying cause, posing challenges for diagnosis and treatment. Early presentation with postmenopausal bleeding ensures cure, but advanced cases have poor prognosis. Minimally invasive surgical staging and targeted chemotherapeutic strategies are important advances.

Summary: This study investigated the association between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cancer incidence. The findings suggest that a low estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is not significantly associated with an increased risk of total cancer incidence in patients with CKD, possibly due to the underpowered sample size and shared risk factors between CKD and cancer.

Summary: In this nested case-control study, no association was observed between acrylamide (AA) and glycidamide (GA) hemoglobin adducts (HbAA and HbGA) and breast cancer, except for a positive association between the HbGA/HbAA ratio and breast cancer. The risk of breast cancer associated with acrylamide may need to be evaluated by considering not only the absolute amount of HbAA or HbGA but also the HbGA/HbAA ratio and the activity of metabolic genes.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the protective effect of the 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPSV23) on cardiovascular events in adults aged >= 65 years. The results showed that individuals who were PPSV23 vaccinated had significantly lower odds of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) or stroke events compared to unvaccinated individuals. More recent PPSV23 vaccination was associated with even lower odds ratios for AMI or stroke.

Summary: This study investigated the association between SNPs in the LPA region and cancer incidence and mortality in Japanese individuals. The results showed that none of the 25 SNPs in the LPAL2-LPA region were significantly associated with overall cancer incidence or mortality. However, some SNPs were found to be associated with stomach cancer incidence and mortality in men, as well as colorectal cancer incidence in men and prostate cancer incidence in carriers of certain SNPs. Further analysis using different cohorts is needed to confirm these findings.
