Apoptosis inhibitor of macrophage (AIM) contributes to IL-10-induced anti-inflammatory response through inhibition of inflammasome activation

Tae-Hyun Kim, Kyungwon Yang, Minsuk Kim, Hee-Sun Kim, Jihee Lee Kang

Summary: AIM plays a crucial role in inhibiting inflammasome-mediated caspase-1 activation and IL-1 beta and IL-18 production. IL-10 induces AIM expression by regulating STAT3 activity, leading to anti-inflammatory effects.

Metabolomics-guided global pathway analysis reveals better insights into the metabolic alterations of breast cancer

Nguyen Phuoc Long, Dayoung Heo, Hee-Yeon Kim, Tae Hyun Kim, Jae-Gook Shin, Anbok Lee, Dong-Hyun Kim

Summary: The study utilized a metabolomics-guided global pathway meta-analysis to investigate metabolic alterations in breast cancer, highlighting the importance of avoiding the loss of functionally relevant information and capturing key changes in the breast cancer metabolome. These alterations in metabolic pathways play crucial roles in breast cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, and drug resistance, providing insights for potential therapeutic targets.

Transcriptomic analysis and competing endogenous RNA network in the human endometrium between proliferative and mid-secretory phases

Seong-Lan Yu, Tae-Hyun Kim, Young-Hyun Han, Yujin Kang, Da-Un Jeong, Dong Chul Lee, Jaeku Kang, Seok-Rae Park

Summary: The study identified differentially expressed lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs associated with endometrial receptivity by analyzing gene expression profiles between proliferative and mid-secretory endometria in fertile women. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis indicated enrichment for cell adhesion molecules, tryptophan metabolism, and FoxO signaling. Hub RNAs forming three axes in the ceRNA network, such as DLX6-AS1/miR-141/OLFM1, WDFY3-AS2/miR-135a/STC1, and LINC00240/miR-182/NDRG1, may play important roles in regulating endometrial receptivity and serve as candidate markers.

Electricity auto-generating skin patch promotes wound healing process by activation of mechanosensitive ion channels

Tae-Hyun Kim, Won-Yong Jeon, Yunseong Ji, Eun Ju Park, Dong Suk Yoon, Na-Hyun Lee, Sung-Min Park, Nandin Mandakhbayar, Jung-Hwan Lee, Hae-Hyoung Lee, Hae-Won Kim

Summary: Electricity plays a significant role in wound healing by activating mechanosensitive ion channels and calcium influx to promote key functions in the wound healing process. This study demonstrates that the electricity auto-generating EBC skin patch can accelerate wound healing by modulating inflammation, stimulating angiogenesis, enhancing fibroblast functionality, and promoting matrix synthesis.

Sp1-Induced FNBP1 Drives Rigorous 3D Cell Motility in EMT-Type Gastric Cancer Cells

Bo Kyung Yoon, Nahee Hwang, Kyu-Hye Chun, Yoseob Lee, Tatiana Patricia Mendes Duarte, Jae-Won Kim, Tae-Hyun Kim, Jae-Ho Cheong, Sungsoon Fang, Jae-woo Kim

Summary: This study identifies FNBP1 as a key molecule in high-level cell motility, specifically present in aggressive gastric cancer cells. The transcription factor Sp1 is found to drive FNBP1 expression in EMT-type GC cells, leading to increased invasion ability. Inhibition of Sp1 results in down-regulation of FNBP1 and loss of invasive potential, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for aggressive gastric cancer.
