Summary: This study investigates the relationship between psychosocial symptoms and exercise barriers in breast cancer survivors. The results show that higher levels of anxiety, depression, and comorbidities are independently associated with specific exercise barriers. Health professionals should consider mood and comorbidities when evaluating survivors for exercise barriers and providing tailored exercise counseling.

Summary: Many breast cancer survivors experience changes in energy balance during and after treatment, potentially influenced by factors such as dietary intake and estrogen suppression. Future research may focus on developing targeted and personalized behavioral interventions to address these specific changes in energy balance.

Summary: This study found that anthracycline-treated breast cancer survivors exhibited abnormalities in peak exercise cardiac function and thigh muscle fatty infiltration, which were associated with VO(2)peak. Myocardial fibrosis and thigh muscle fatty infiltration negatively influence VO(2)peak, indicating impaired cardiac reserve and oxygen extraction post-anthracyclines.

Summary: MOTS-c is an exercise-mimetic peptide expressed in multiple tissues and can be detected as a circulating hormone in the blood. Its mechanisms of action involve insulin sensitization, enhanced glucose utilization, suppression of mitochondrial respiration, and targeting of the folate-AICAR-AMPK pathway. The regulatory actions of the anti-diabetic drug metformin on MOTS-c have not been evaluated in detail.

Summary: In a nationwide cohort study, it was found that there is an increased risk of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE), especially heart failure (HF), in breast cancer patients receiving trastuzumab treatment. The cardiotoxicity of trastuzumab may pose critical concerns for the cardiac safety of patients, independent of traditional cardiovascular risk factors.

Summary: In Taiwan, a higher incidence of MACCE, particularly heart failure (HF), was observed in breast cancer patients receiving trastuzumab. The cardiotoxicity of trastuzumab is independent of traditional cardiovascular risks, raising concerns about its cardiac safety. Subgroup analysis indicated increased risk of MACCE in trastuzumab users, especially those not using taxanes.

Summary: The purpose of this review is to evaluate the efficacy of aquatic therapeutic exercise in female breast cancer survivors for improving fatigue, pain, lymphedema, and quality of life. A systematic literature review was conducted, and ten randomized controlled trials with 606 participants were included. The results suggest that aquatic therapeutic exercise is effective in reducing fatigue, pain, and improving quality of life, although the effects on lymphedema remain uncertain. The methodological quality of the studies was high, and no adverse effects were reported.

Summary: This review analyzed different protocols of physical activity interventions for breast cancer patients and proposed a possible standard operating procedure for exercise training. The findings suggested that physical activity has positive effects on improving the physical and psychological health of breast cancer patients and reducing disease symptoms. However, due to the heterogeneity of the included studies and inconsistent results, a specific standard operating procedure could not be proposed at this time.

Summary: This study investigated the information needs and determinants of information needs for women with breast cancer undergoing treatment in Vietnam. The results showed that the participants had high information needs, particularly related to the potential for recurrence, interpretation of blood test results, treatment side effects, and diet. Future perspective, income level, and educational level were identified as determinants of information needs, explaining 28.2% of the variance in breast cancer information needs. Healthcare professionals can use these findings to design and deliver health education programs for women with breast cancer in Vietnam.
