Summary: The reproducibility of data analysis workflows in bioinformatics is a crucial issue. While recent technologies like virtualization have enabled easy reproduction of workflow execution, the reproducibility of results is still a challenge. In this study, a new metric called the reproducibility scale of workflow execution results is proposed. The metric evaluates the reproducibility of results based on biological feature values and a prototype system is implemented to automatically evaluate the reproducibility. The approach allows for a more graduated view of reproducibility and is expected to contribute to informed discussions on reproducibility in bioinformatics.

Summary: This study provides insight into the ethics review of decentralized clinical trials (DCTs), with European ethics committees and national competent authorities expressing hesitancy towards DCTs and focusing on potential risks and burdens. The authors recommend addressing these aspects explicitly when submitting a DCT protocol, and propose careful monitoring of both the benefits and risks to advance the review and practice of this innovative approach to ethically optimize drug development.

Summary: The psychometric properties of a new patient-reported outcome instrument for uveal melanoma patients who have undergone brachytherapy were evaluated using classical test theory and item response theory. A cross-sectional study with a convenience sample of 439 participants from ocular oncology treatment centers identified three domains: Symptom Impairment, Worry, and Discomfort. The instrument showed good acceptability, reliability, and discrimination, making it suitable for post-treatment management.

Summary: Neuroimaging studies often display only a small fraction of the collected data, which hides important information and leads to issues of selection bias and irreproducibility. Instead, it is suggested to highlight as many results as possible through visualization to improve scientific communication and understanding.

Summary: This article proposes a survey of research contributions on Educational Timetabling, specifically focusing on standard formulations and benchmark instances. Six such formulations are identified and their features, relevance, and usability are discussed. Other available formulations and datasets are also reviewed and briefly discussed. Furthermore, state-of-the-art results on selected benchmarks are reported, including solution quality, search techniques, running times, and other side settings.

Summary: The ethical discourse on patients' active participation in shared decision-making in forensic psychiatric contexts is understudied. This paper explores caregivers' perceptions of patient agential capacities and institutional barriers to person-centered care in the context of forensic psychiatry. Interviews with caregivers at a Swedish in-patient facility revealed fundamental variations in patient capacity, challenges in patient participation, power struggles, and system structures hindering patient release. Despite the generally pessimistic outlook on person-centered forensic psychiatric care, the study proposes a constrained version of person-centered care with high-level shared decision-making dynamics that empowers patients while promoting adherence and treatment progress within set restrictions.

Summary: Patients with multiple comorbidities are more likely to be diagnosed with early-stage colon cancer but late-stage breast cancer. This finding may reflect differences in practice patterns for routine screening in these patients. Providers should continue guideline directed screenings to detect cancers at an earlier stage and optimize outcomes.

Summary: There is a growing need for tools to assess the robustness and trustworthiness of published scientific research in the field of biomedical science. The fragility index (FI) method, currently used for this purpose, has limitations. This study introduces a new conceptually similar geometric method called the ellipse of insignificance, which provides a more precise and objective measure of experimental robustness.

Summary: This study explores how patient groups receiving funding from pharmaceutical industry manage the risk of undue influence from their sponsors. Groups work to protect their credibility and autonomy by setting practical rules or 'lines in the sand' about industry funding activities. Transparency varies among groups, and there is little external guidance on responding to influence from funders.

Summary: This study compares the interobserver reproducibility of individual subtypes of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) using the 4th edition World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Skin Tumours (CoST) definitions. The results show that some BCC subtypes have high interobserver agreement, while others have moderate agreement. The study suggests the need for more precise definitions of BCC subtypes and recommends reporting BCC subtypes using a two-tiered risk grouping method.

Summary: This study compared different types of urothelial carcinoma in the same patient and found that differences in gene expression may be associated with pathological features. Metachronous tumors largely maintained the molecular subtype membership of the initial tumor.

Summary: This study developed the Health Coaching Index (HCI) as an observational tool to assess fidelity in implementing health coaching practical skills. Results showed a high interclass correlation of 0.81 for HCI total score, indicating excellent inter-rater agreement, with significant correlations between HCI and RIAS codes supporting construct validity. The HCI can be reliably used to assess fidelity to health coaching skills, with implications for more consistent implementation of health coaching and training of health coaches.

Summary: We developed an electronic tool for colorectal cancer follow-up care planning by incorporating inputs from health care professionals and patients. The study consisted of three phases: design elements, generation of care plans, and optimization of usability. The results showed that the tool has the potential to simplify the implementation of personalized care planning and provide resources to support self-management.

Summary: Improved pain management and co-morbid symptoms among women undergoing surgery for suspected gynecologic malignancies through eHealth Mindful Movement and Breathing (eMMB) practice was found to be highly acceptable and beneficial, according to qualitative feedback from participants. The study also observed high adherence to the self-directed eMMB practice. This feedback will inform future research on the efficacy of remotely-delivered interventions.
