Summary: This study proposes a predictive method called PANDORA, based on HPV prevalence and CCI, to predict CCI among high-risk HPV-positive women and to predict CCI up to 14 years following high-risk HPV detection. The findings show that CCI increases during the 14 years following high-risk HPV detection in unscreened women aged <35 years, but remains mainly constant among women 35 years and older. Age at sexual debut is a significant modifier of CCI. The model accurately reproduces CCI among high-risk HPV-positive women and predicts the annual number of cervical cancer cases and CCI in locations without cancer registry.

Summary: This study investigated the epidemiological characteristics of high-risk HPV in Zhejiang province, China, and found a significant association between HPV16 infection and cervical lesions. The presence of HPV16/18 was also linked to increased risk of developing high-grade cervical lesions and cancer progression in this population. These findings underscore the importance of HPV testing in early screening and prevention of cervical cancer.

Summary: In the pre-vaccine era in China, the HPV prevalence was 15.0%, with high-risk and low-risk genotypes at 12.1% and 5.2% respectively. The prevalence of vaccine-related HPV genotypes were 2.1%, 2.4%, and 8.3% for bivalent, quadrivalent, and nonavalent vaccines, while non-vaccine high-risk genotypes were at 5.7%. HPV genotype infection varied significantly across different age groups and geographic locations.

Summary: Multiple human papillomavirus (HPV) infections are common and controversial in their impact on cervical lesions. This study investigated the association between multiple HPV infections and cervical lesions, and found that single HR-HPV coinfected with LR-HPV may reduce the risk of high-grade cervical lesions.

Summary: This study revealed that HPV-16 or 18/45-positive women have a significantly higher risk of cervical cancer and precancer based on HPV E6/E7 mRNA genotyping. HPV mRNA genotyping can serve as an effective risk stratification tool to identify individuals at higher risk for cervical cancer or precancer.

Summary: Compared with the HR-HPV nongenotyping period, the introduction of HR-HPV genotyping in the FCPP in China led to the identification of more CIN2+ cases at the initial screening, higher rates of colposcopy referral, and a higher hazard ratio for CIN2+ diagnosis. The HR-HPV genotyping period also showed higher screening coverage, greater compliance with age recommendations, lower over-screening rates, and reduced unqualified samples.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study in Italy assessed the effectiveness of an HPV vaccination programme in reducing the risk of cervical abnormalities detected during subsequent screenings. Results showed that women who received at least one dose of the HPV vaccine were significantly less likely to have abnormal cervical cytology. Overall, catch-up HPV vaccination almost halved the risk of cytological abnormalities in organized cervical screening programmes.

Summary: The study compared HPV prevalence among high-grade cervical precancers and invasive cervical cancers before and after HPV vaccine availability. No significant reduction in vaccine-type prevalence was observed between the two studies, likely due to low HPV vaccination coverage among women in the postvaccine study. Monitoring HPV-type prevalence through population-based strategies remains important for evaluating the impact of the HPV vaccine.

The overall prevalence of HPV infection was 21.14%, with HPV 52, 16, and 58 being the most common genotypes. Women aged 56 faced the greatest threat of HPV infection, and age-associated HPV prevalence showed bimodal curves.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) and with Lugol's iodine (VILI) as a primary screening method for cervical cancer in rural China. The results showed that multiple rounds of VIA/VILI screening could act as a temporary substitutional screening method for cervical cancer in resource-restricted settings. The majority of CIN2+ cases were detected at an early stage during the first round of screening.

Summary: Lung cancer screening provides an opportunity for smoking cessation and relapse prevention. This study found that non-smokers with negative screening results were more likely to start smoking, while current smokers who attended multiple screenings had a significantly reduced chance of quitting smoking. Factors such as age, gender, occupational exposure, income, and smoking pack years were also associated with smoking behavior changes.

Summary: The optimal treatment regimen for breast cancer patients with gBRCA mutations remains controversial. This study conducted a network meta-analysis and found that PARP inhibitors in combination with platinum-based agents and chemotherapy showed better efficacy in terms of overall survival, progression-free survival, and treatment response prediction. Platinum drugs also demonstrated better overall survival compared to PARP inhibitors.

Summary: The appropriate management strategies for BI-RADS category 4a lesions among handheld ultrasound (HHUS) remain a matter of debate. The study aimed to explore the role of automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) or the second-look mammography (MAM) adjunct to ultrasound (US) to reduce unnecessary biopsies. The findings suggest that the second-look MAM adjunct to ABUS has the potential to safely reduce false-positive biopsies compared with HHUS.
