Summary: Th9 cells express both IL-9 and IL-24, and knockout of the Il24 gene promotes cell proliferation but decreases cell survival. Knockout of Il24 gene also decreases the tumor-specific cytotoxicity of Th9 cells. Immunotherapy with Il24 knockout Th9 cells exhibits less tumor inhibition, while inhibition of Foxo1 decreases IL-24 expression and antitumor efficacy of Th9 cells.

Summary: The study designed and prepared a novel siRNA delivery system, cRGD-PSH-NP, which showed excellent gene silencing and antitumor activity in HepG2 cells. In vivo, cRGD-PSH-NP/S demonstrated potent tumor inhibition in HepG2-bearing nude mice without inducing toxicity, suggesting further research potential in hepatocarcinoma therapy.

Summary: This study found that 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) can be considered as a potential therapeutic compound for hepatocarcinoma (HCC) due to its pro-apoptosis, restriction of energy metabolism, and other anti-cancer properties. Meanwhile, the high expression of insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 1 (IGFBP1) induced by EBR in HCC contributes to our understanding of the role of IGFBP1 in drug resistance.

Summary: The COVID-19 breakout had a devastating impact globally, resulting in millions of deaths and significant economic burdens. However, the determination of the SARS-CoV-2 genetic sequence and global efforts to develop potential vaccines have provided a glimmer of hope. Adenoviral vector-based vaccines have shown promise due to their higher immune response, better manufacturing processes, safety, efficacy, and manageable storage procedures. As of April 2022, the WHO has approved three adenoviral vector-based vaccines, among a total of 10 vaccines approved worldwide for COVID-19.

Summary: This study found that the antitumor activity of Vgamma9Vdelta2-T cells was highly suppressed by the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) mediated by hIL-10 and vIL-10. CD137 costimulation significantly mitigated the suppressive effects of IL-10 in TME by suppressing IL-10R1 expression, and improved the compromised antitumor activity of Vgamma9Vdelta2-T cells. In humanized mice, CD137 costimulation boosted the therapeutic effects of aminobisphosphonate pamidronate against EBV-induced lymphoma.

Summary: In this study, an adenoviral vector system was developed to control the expression of canine IFN-λ3 and effectively inhibit the replication of canine influenza virus in two canine cell lines. These results suggest that the recombinant adenovirus carrying canine IFN-λ3 gene has the potential to be used as a treatment for canine influenza and other viral diseases.

Summary: Photothermal therapy (PTT) is a new tumor treatment strategy with the advantages of accuracy, ease of administration, high efficiency, and low side effects. This paper reviews the important role of photothermal transduction agents (PTAs) in PTT and discusses methods to improve photothermal conversion efficiency. The structure and characteristics of various PTAs are compared and analyzed, and the applications of photothermal synergistic therapies, including PTT combined with immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and photodynamic therapy, are reviewed.
