Summary: A thermistor made from metal nanoparticles functionalized with charged organic ligands is reported in this study, achieving a β value of 10,000 K. The device maintains its performance when fabricated on a flexible substrate and experiences reversible bending, and demonstrates potential applications in heat transfer and distribution, with performance comparisons to commercial products.

Summary: The Protist 10 000 Genomes Project (P10K) is a database that integrates and disseminates genome sequences and annotations from diverse protist groups. It currently includes 2959 genomes and transcriptomes, with a significant representation of ciliates. Analysis of codon table usage among ciliates suggests the need for revision of the existing codon tables. The P10K database serves as a valuable resource for protist research and aims to expand its collection and analysis tools.

Summary: This study uses the correlation between H i linewidths and baryonic mass to obtain distance information for approximately 9984 galaxies. The sample is limited by H i flux and a correction is made to account for selection bias. The absolute scale is established using 64 galaxies with known distances, resulting in a determination of the Hubble constant as H-0 = 75.5 +/- 2.5 km s(-1) Mpc(-1). These findings provide important references for subsequent research.

Summary: Modern astronomical observations provide valuable information about nearby galaxies, but they can only capture the present-day state of the Universe. Cosmological simulations allow us to study the past processes that galaxies have undergone. This study aims to connect the past events with present-day galactic properties by using hydro-cosmological simulations to generate a mock MaNGA sample for stellar population analysis.

Summary: The survey revealed that many early career adult and pediatric neurologists were dissatisfied with the psychiatry component of their residency training and felt underprepared for it. Suggestions for improvement included more outpatient experience, additional teaching time in psychiatry, and exposure to a wider range of psychiatric treatments and patient conditions likely to be encountered in neurology practice.

Summary: In this study, experimental observations of P-31 and H-1 NMR resonances shifted by over 10 000 ppm in a square planar ferrous complex were reported. The influence of magnetic anisotropy and zero-field splitting on paramagnetic shift and relaxation enhancement was investigated using various techniques, and spin dynamics simulations showed the possibility of observing NMR signals of directly metal-bonded atoms even with relatively slow electron spin relaxation.

Summary: This study explores the relationships and patterns of interaction between humans and nature over the past 10,000 years in the Hexi Corridor, an important section of the ancient Silk Road. It identifies three distinct periods of interaction, with varying levels of impact from humans and nature. The proposed Hexi model, validated in other regions, provides a framework for understanding long-term human-nature interactions.

Summary: This paper presents an AI framework for personalized case-based ophthalmology residency training, using a deep learning model and an expert-system-powered case allocation algorithm. The deep learning model can classify retinal diseases from color fundus photographs and the diagnosis is passed to the case allocation algorithm to select the most suitable resident. This approach provides a structure for future precision medical education in ophthalmology.

Summary: Anesthesiology residents in the United States place the highest value on the quality of clinical training experiences and are generally satisfied with their choice of specialty and residency program. Overall, their training experiences met their expectations, with senior residents reporting more academic difficulties than interpersonal or technical challenges. They believe that their residency adequately prepares them for independent practice, particularly in the areas of professionalism and interpersonal communication skills.

Summary: This study investigates the tandem cylinder flow and focuses on the development of the gap shear layers, which has been largely ignored in previous research. The researchers discovered significant differences in the shear layers compared to a single cylinder, including early separation, stabilizing crossflow, delayed transition to turbulence, and minimal meandering. The occurrence of vortex pairing in the gap shear layers was also reported for the first time. The study also explores the interaction between the recirculating gap flow and the shear layers, finding that large-scale gap vortices influence turbulence transition and have consequences for the reattachment mechanism and downstream wake development.

Summary: This survey study examined the prevalence, types, and sources of workplace mistreatment among emergency medicine (EM) residents in the US, as well as the association between mistreatment and suicidal ideation. The study found that workplace mistreatment was common and identified patients and/or patients' families as a frequent source of mistreatment. Educational interventions may be developed to help ensure resident wellness and career satisfaction.

Summary: This scoping review identified 29 studies covering 6 topics related to educational interventions in neurosurgery residency programs. While several educational interventions were supported by quantitative evidence, methodological shortcomings were common in the selection of meaningful outcome measures. Evidence-based considerations were provided for program directors in both current and future training programs.
