Summary: The ABCG2 gene plays a crucial role in milk fat synthesis in buffalo mammary epithelial cells (BuMECs) during peak lactation. It increases the triglyceride content by affecting the expression of liposynthesis-related genes in BuMECs. This study highlights the pivotal role of the ABCG2 gene in influencing milk fat synthesis in BuMECs.

Summary: The study suggests that ABCB1 and ABCG2 together limit the distribution of systemically administered ABCB1/ABCG2 substrate drugs to the human retina, with carriers of the c.421C > A SNP possibly being more susceptible to transporter-mediated drug-drug interactions at the blood-retinal barrier.

Summary: The study demonstrated that eprinomectin is an effective ABCG2 inhibitor, reducing the transport of danofloxacin and meloxicam and increasing the systemic exposure of these drugs. The systemic concentration of meloxicam was significantly increased with coadministration of eprinomectin, showing an increase of over 40% in the AUC (0-72 h) value.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between gene variants and bleeding complications during treatment with ABCG2 substrates (apixaban and rivaroxaban). The findings showed that the modified HAS-BLED score, a history of bleeding, concurrent use of PPI, ABCG2 rs3114018, and ABCB1 rs1045642 were significantly associated with the risk of bleeding complications in patients on apixaban and rivaroxaban.

Summary: Milk coagulation ability is crucial in cheese production. This study investigated the impact of milk composition, protein polymorphisms, and phosphorylation levels on milk coagulation properties using milk samples collected from 3625 Chinese Holstein cows. The results showed that certain factors, such as lower milk pH and higher protein and casein amounts, were associated with good coagulation properties. Salt distributions, particularly calcium, played a significant role in milk coagulation. Protein polymorphisms and phosphorylation degrees were higher in non-coagulating milk. These factors, including salt distribution, can interact with each other during the cheese-making process, resulting in a complex relationship with milk coagulation.

Summary: The ABCG2 gene variant rs2231142 A allele was associated with an increased risk of sunitinib-induced thrombocytopenia and hand-foot syndrome in Asians. The ABCB1 gene variant rs1128503 T allele was associated with a decreased risk of sunitinib-induced hypertension but worse progression-free survival. The ABCB1 gene variant rs2032582 T allele was associated with worse progression-free survival.

Summary: This study investigates the association between the ABCG2 rs2231142 variant and nephrolithiasis in the Taiwanese population. The results show that the rs2231142 T allele of the ABCG2 gene is a significant risk factor for nephrolithiasis, independent of serum uric acid levels, and is associated with comorbidities such as hyperuricemia.

Summary: Clorsulon is an effective drug for treating helminthic zoonoses and has high broad-spectrum antiparasitic efficacy when used in combination with ivermectin. The safety and efficacy of clorsulon should be studied by considering drug-drug interactions mediated by ABC transporters. This study demonstrates that clorsulon is actively secreted into milk by ABCG2 transporter and its secretion into milk is reduced by coadministration with ivermectin.

Summary: In this study, granular activated carbon made from coconut shell charcoal was used as an adsorbent to remove two fluoroquinolone antibiotics from synthetic wastewater. The maximum removal efficiencies were found to be 85% and 88% for danofloxacin and ofloxacin, respectively. The adsorption mechanism was fitted to a pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the adsorption of the antibiotics was found to be spontaneous and endothermic.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of ABCG2 and ABCB1 genetic polymorphisms on imatinib pharmacokinetics, finding a strong positive correlation between plasma AGP levels and imatinib pharmacokinetics. The ABCG2 c.421C>A single nucleotide polymorphism had a significant impact on imatinib pharmacokinetics in groups with low plasma AGP levels.

Summary: This study performed an association analysis between polymorphisms of three candidate genes (ABCG2, CD44, SPP1) and milk production performance on Chinese Holstein cattle. The results showed that the different genotypes of these genes significantly affected milk production performance. ABCG2, CD44, and SPP1 genes could be selected for marker-assisted selection, which is of great significance for future precise molecular breeding.

Summary: The study compared the effect of high pressure on triglyceride polymorphism in milk cream and anhydrous milk fat, with the presence of water found to have a significant impact on polymorphism at high pressures. Pressure effects were particularly strong for anhydrous milk fat. The susceptibility of specific polymorphs to compression was influenced by their triglyceride tilt relative to the lattice plane and the presence of water.

Summary: ABCG2 is involved in the secretion of several compounds in milk, with higher levels of tryptophan-related compounds in wild-type mice compared to Abcg2(-/-) mice. The milk-to-plasma ratio of these compounds was also higher in dairy cows carrying the ABCG2 Y581S polymorphism compared to noncarrier animals. In vitro transport assays confirmed these findings and validated differences in the bovine protein variants.

Summary: The ATP-binding cassette G2 (ABCG2) is an efflux transporter that impacts the bioavailability, tissue accumulation, and secretion of xenobiotics and endogenous compounds. This study characterized the role of ABCG2 in the distribution and secretion of melatonin and its metabolites. The researchers found that ABCG2 transported melatonin and its metabolites and that mice lacking Abcg2 exhibited higher plasma concentrations of melatonin metabolites, increased tissue accumulation, and lower milk concentrations compared to wild-type mice. These findings demonstrate the critical role of ABCG2 in the biodistribution and therapeutic activity of melatonin and its metabolites.

Summary: The Trp73 gene plays a role in regulating biological processes and generating isoforms with different biological activities. A lack of physiological models to study these isoforms prompted the generation of specific p73-isoform-deficient mouse embryonic stem cell lines using the CRISPR/Cas9 system. Characterization of the cell lines revealed isoform-specific alterations in transcriptional networks.
