Spherical particles of nanoporous silica (with a diameter of 600 nm) containing mercaptopropylsilyl groups oil the pore surface were synthesized by a modified Stober method and Subsequently silylated using (3-mercaptopropyl)-trimethoxysilane. The spherical particles of organosilica formed all artificial opal Structure by simply casting the Suspension (water dimethylformamide mixture) on a mercaptopropylsilylated Si wafer.
