Summary: The majority of parents of youth soccer athletes believe that concussions are serious injuries, but only a small percentage think their child could suffer one in the next season. Their primary concern is the possibility of permanent brain damage after a concussion. More targeted education is needed to better manage and prevent concussions in youth soccer.

Summary: Surface electromyography is a valid tool for assessing quadriceps and hamstring muscle activation in professional male and female soccer teams. The study found differences in muscle activation patterns between male and female players, particularly in the vastus medialis:vastus lateralis ratio. These differences could be useful in injury prevention and rehabilitation programs.

Summary: This study aims to propose an effective method for simplifying single-leg hop test data to a single score. By collecting data from a male soccer team and calculating limb symmetry indexes and standardizing them, the "Compound Hop Index" (CHI) was derived, which significantly reduces, clarifies, and organizes hop performance measures data.

Summary: The study found that player-salary costs remained stable in the professional Australian soccer league, along with stable injury rates and missed matches. Despite injuries being associated with goal differences, points, and match losses, the magnitude of these relationships is small, suggesting that team performance is influenced by multiple factors beyond just injury occurrence.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the effect of maturation on neuromuscular and psycho-physiological responses to activity, with findings showing a significant interaction between maturation and neuromuscular performance, particularly in terms of perceived technical response. It is suggested to consider maturation in training programs and further empirical studies are needed to determine maturity-specific dose-responses.

Summary: The paper summarises the consensus methodology used for the International Consensus Statement on Concussion in Sport (Amsterdam 2022). The Scientific Committee identified key questions for encapsulating the current science in sport-related concussion and guiding clinical practice. Systematic reviews were conducted over 3 1/2 years by author groups, delayed by 2 years due to the pandemic. The 6th International Conference on Concussion in Sport included systematic review presentations, panel discussions, question and answer engagement, and a closed consensus deliberation day with expert panels.

Summary: This systematic review examined the role of fluid-based biomarkers, advanced neuroimaging, genetic testing, and emerging technologies in defining and assessing neurobiological recovery after sport-related concussion (SRC). A total of 205 studies were included, showing that neuroimaging and fluid-based biomarkers can detect the acute effects of concussion and track neurobiological recovery after injury. Emerging technologies have also shown potential in the assessment of SRC. However, there is insufficient evidence to recommend the use of these tools in clinical practice.

Summary: This systematic review evaluated interventions for recovery in children, adolescents, and adults with a sport-related concussion (SRC). The results suggest that individualized cervicovestibular rehabilitation may decrease the time to return to sport for adolescents and adults with dizziness, neck pain, and/or headaches lasting more than 10 days. Vestibular rehabilitation may decrease the time to medical clearance for adolescents with vestibular symptoms/impairments. Active rehabilitation and collaborative care may decrease symptoms for adolescents with persisting symptoms lasting more than 30 days.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the assessment of sport-related concussion (SRC) in the subacute phase (3-30 days) and provided recommendations for developing a Sport Concussion Office Assessment Tool (SCOAT6). The data sources included various databases and the quality of the studies was assessed. The findings informed the development of SCOAT6, which includes the assessment of autonomic function, dual gait, vestibular ocular motor screening (VOMS), and mental health screening. Rating: 8/10
