Summary: Autologous whole blood or PRP injection may not provide significant improvement in pain or function for lateral elbow pain, and it remains uncertain whether they improve treatment success and pain relief > 50%. Although the risk for harm may not be increased compared with placebo injection, the injections cause pain and carry a small risk of infection.

Summary: Neovascularization is a complex process involving multiple steps, with abundant neovascularization being found in tendinous tissue of asymptomatic athletes or early after injury. In musculoskeletal disorders, this process seems to be associated with pain and poor clinical outcomes. Reviewing the literature aims to investigate the role of neovascularization in tendon and meniscus injuries and its potential as a target in therapies like PRP.

Summary: 12 weeks of HSR combined with either CSI, TN, or PN had similar effects on both primary and secondary outcomes in patients with lateral elbow tendinopathy. However, in the long term, CSI seemed to impair patient-reported outcomes compared to HSR alone.

Summary: In the management of GTPS, PRP and CCS injections are useful options, with PRP potentially more effective than CCS at long-term follow-up; however, the superiority of PRP over CCS injections remains unclear, warranting further research in this area.

Summary: This study assessed the relationship between the concentration of biologically active compounds in PRP and the clinical effect of treating lateral elbow tendinopathy. The results showed that the concentration of certain growth factors in PRP correlated with pain reduction and functional improvement in patients.

Summary: This study compared the effects of subacromial leukocyte-rich platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in patients with isolated rotator cuff tendinopathy (RCT) and partial-thickness rotator cuff tears (PTRCTs). The results showed that PRP injections significantly improved shoulder function, pain, and sleep disturbances in most patients with refractory RCT. However, the improvement was less significant in patients with PTRCTs.

Summary: The efficacy of hysteroscopically controlled injections of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and autologous endometrial cells as a treatment for infertile women with thin endometrium was evaluated in this study. PRP injections and injections of endometrial cells suspended in PRP into endometrium enhanced cell proliferation and angiogenesis, leading to significant improvement in endometrial thickness and local microcirculation. This study describes a novel approach for infertility treatment in patients with refractory thin endometrium.

Summary: Non-human primates (NHPs) are important preclinical models for SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study found that computed X-ray tomography (CT) and [F-18]-FDG positron emission tomography (PET) have significant benefits in monitoring early infection in NHPs, allowing for early detection of inflammation and lung burden.
