Summary: Chronic kidney disease is a significant risk factor for cerebrovascular disease, with various potential mechanisms linking the two, including traditional and nontraditional risk factors. The presence of chronic kidney disease complicates stroke risk prediction, diagnosis, and management, leading to more severe strokes and a higher burden on patients.

Summary: This paper presents a legitimacy framework to analyze a recent consensus conference on genome editing and highlights the difficulties of achieving inclusive input and conflicts between deliberative ideals, empirical communication practice, and policy making. It calls for more experimentation with hybrid online/offline approaches and emphasizes the need for unifying outputs.

Summary: The psychometric properties of the ASKp tool were evaluated after HSCT, showing limitations in predicting cGVHD patients and being influenced by ceiling effects. In contrast, KPS/PSS demonstrated superior diagnostic performance and should be considered more in clinical practice, suggesting a preference for KPS/PSS over ASKp.

Summary: This article provides a systematic review of cannabinoids for symptom control in cancer patients with gastrointestinal symptoms. The results show that cannabinoids may have some efficacy in relieving chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, chronic nausea, anorexia-cachexia syndrome, and taste disturbance. However, they are not more effective than other antiemetics. Therefore, there is currently insufficient evidence to support the use of cannabinoids for managing gastrointestinal symptoms in cancer patients.

Summary: Kidney disease is a significant public health issue, with acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease well defined and classified. The term acute kidney diseases and disorders (AKD) has been introduced to address abnormalities that do not fit the traditional definitions, with a consensus workshop organized by KDIGO to refine definitions, classify AKD, propose management strategies, and prioritize research efforts.

Summary: The 17th St. Gallen Consensus Conference on the Treatment of Patients with Early Breast Cancer focused on customizing local and systemic therapies for women with early breast cancer, emphasizing the challenge of individualized treatment. A German working group of leading breast cancer experts discussed the international conference results and compared them with the German guidelines to incorporate country-specific aspects. Both the German treatment recommendations of the AGO and the S3 guideline are evidence-based, but therapeutic decisions should always be based on a risk-benefit analysis for each specific situation and discussed with the patient.

Summary: Single-Step is the most advanced genomic evaluation method in populations with incomplete genotyping. Implementing it in cattle, especially in populations with massive genotype data, is a major challenge. The German-Austrian genetic evaluation consortium introduced the Single-Step methodology in April 2021 for the Fleckvieh and Brown Swiss breeds, covering a wide range of traits. This paper presents the methodological aspects and highlights the strategies and experiences in validating genomic breeding values for fitness traits. It also discusses the current development work on novel fitness traits and the further development of the Single-Step methodology.

Summary: This study found that c-Jun/AP-1 protein regulates CCL2 and IL-23 production in DCs following TLR7 activation, affecting psoriasis-like skin inflammation. The expression of CCL2 and IL-23 in human psoriatic skin co-localize with c-Jun in type-2/inflammatory DCs, and inhibition of JNK-AP-1 can reduce the expression of these targets in TLR7/8-stimulated human DCs.
