Summary: Twenty-six stilbenes, including five undescribed compounds, were isolated from the seedcases of Paeonia suffruticosa Andrews. Some of the isolated compounds showed potent cytotoxicity against cancer cell lines, thus warranting further investigation of their antitumor activities and structure-activity relationship.

Summary: This study identified apigenin 7-O-glucoside as the main active component in P. suffruticosa leaf extract for reducing uric acid levels. It suppressed liver xanthine oxidase activity to decrease uric acid synthesis and modulated renal urate transporters to promote uric acid excretion, alleviating kidney damage caused by hyperuricemia.

Summary: In this study, a method combining solid-phase extraction (SPE) with an enzyme activity switch and mass spectrometry analysis was proposed to screen benzoic acid-derived neuraminidase (NA) inhibitors from Paeonia suffruticosa Andrews (CPSA). Two NA inhibitors were successfully screened using this method, which offers the advantages of simplicity and high efficiency.

Summary: This study reveals the accumulation of gamma delta T cells in fibrotic liver and their role in alleviating liver fibrosis. The activation of mTOR signaling in gamma delta T cells is observed during CCl4 treatment. IL-1 beta activation promotes the upregulation of CXCR3 expression through the mTORC2 signaling pathway in gamma delta T cells, leading to their migration into the liver and improvement of liver fibrosis.

Summary: This study used in vitro measurements to describe the skin barrier and skin tone characteristics of Chinese subjects. The results showed that geographical, environmental, and pollution conditions have an impact on facial skin health and appearance. Different cities had significant differences in facial skin characteristics, and environmental conditions and individual lifestyles also influenced facial skin status.

Summary: Morphea is a poorly studied disease characterized by initial inflammation followed by fibrosis of the skin and soft tissue. In this study, a mouse model was used to mimic the clinical and histological features of human morphea, and it was found that the CXCR3 chemokine axis plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of cutaneous fibrosis. Fibroblasts were identified as the main source of CXCR3 ligands, and the fibrosis was shown to be dependent on CXCL9 and CXCR3. Furthermore, recombinant CXCL9 was found to contribute to fibrosis by inducing Col1a1 mRNA expression in mouse fibroblasts.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the cytokine expression profiles in the skin and plasma and the utility of the biomarker panel in assessing disease activity, severity, and prognosis in patients with vitiligo. The results showed that IFN-gamma, CXCL9, CXCL10, and GzmB are highly expressed in vitiligo patients' lesion skin and plasma and may serve as biomarkers for the clinical activity, severity, and prognosis prediction in vitiligo patients. Among all, IFN-gamma exerts the highest predictive value in disease activity and treatment response, supporting the critical role of IFN-gamma in the pathogenesis of vitiligo.
