Summary: Through a referendum choice experiment with over 2,800 German citizens, the study explores public support for meat taxation in Germany. The results show that support is higher when the tax is justified by animal welfare rather than climate change mitigation. Differentiated taxes based on the harmfulness of the product do not receive higher support. The study highlights the importance of clear communication regarding the reasons and intended effects of the tax.

Summary: Peru has become a major agricultural hub for fruits and vegetables, particularly avocado and green asparagus. A study was conducted to assess the environmental impact of these products, focusing on carbon and water footprint. The results showed that while the products have low carbon emissions, their cultivation requires a significant amount of groundwater due to the hyper-arid conditions. However, the low mobility of pollutants and technified irrigation systems help mitigate environmental degradation. The study's findings can be useful for future environmental assessments and certification schemes for food products, both globally and regionally.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of consumers' hometown orientation on their preferences for food products. The findings demonstrate that consumers significantly favor food products produced in their hometown, and the willingness to pay for such products is estimated to be 48 JPY (0.44 USD) per kg higher compared to products from other regions. The study suggests that providing detailed information on the region of origin through food labels could serve as an effective marketing strategy to target consumers who are originally from a specific region but currently living elsewhere.
