Summary: This retrospective study aimed to investigate the influence of malposition on the occurrence of peri-implantitis. The results showed that malposition was not statistically significantly associated with the occurrence of peri-implantitis. Factors significantly associated with peri-implantitis included presence/history of periodontitis and presence of a prosthetic emergence profile angle >= 45 degrees.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of prolonged pre-operative halo gravity traction (HGT) on c-spine radiographs. The results showed that HGT can partially correct severe spine deformities without adverse effects on atlanto-axial stability or cervical alignment.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate early bone healing around implants with non-modified and modified surfaces. Four different surface characteristics were tested in the mandibles of 6 dogs. The results showed that implants with surface modifications had higher bone-to-implant contact and more newly formed bone within the defect area compared to implants with non-modified surfaces. Acid-etching in oxalic and hydrofluoric acid was found to promote early formation of bone-to-implant contact.

Summary: This study aimed to predict physiological bone remodeling (PBR) using radiomic analysis. It revealed specific bone features associated with high levels of PBR. Machine-learning methods were also used to improve prediction accuracy. This innovative approach can aid in understanding clinical phenomena that are not fully understood.

Summary: The present study evaluated the effect of directly administering parathormone (PTH) to the surface of implants prior to insertion using a large animal model. The results showed that the local application of different concentrations of PTH on the titanium implant's surface did not influence osseointegration at any time point evaluation in low-density bone.

Summary: The study evaluated the barrier function of PIE compared with a native JE in a mouse model. The PIE lacked a Wnt-responsive stem cell niche and exhibited characteristics of chronically inflamed tissue, which contributed to its suboptimal barrier function compared with a native JE.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of rhBMP-7 on the osseointegration of titanium implants coated with a thin film of hydroxyapatite. The results show that rhBMP-7 promotes bone formation, particularly in over-instrumented implant sites.

Summary: The aim of this study was to develop a reliable protocol for oral pre-operative registration and dental risk assessment by comparing the observations of a senior dental student and an internal physician specializing in anaesthesiology. A convenience sample of 35 patients was selected, and a self-administered questionnaire and brief clinical examination were conducted. Good to excellent correlation was found in most parameters, suggesting that this protocol can be implemented in clinical practice.

Summary: This study found site-specific underestimations of available horizontal bone dimensions for implants when assessed by PAN, indicating that canines, first, and second premolars may need to be excluded when evaluating root angulations via PAN.

Summary: The study found minimal changes in peri-implant soft tissue contour over a 12-year period, regardless of whether a one-piece or two-piece implant system was used. The differences between implant sites and corresponding teeth were clinically negligible.
