Summary: This study evaluated the impact of axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) and sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) on upper limb morbidity in breast cancer patients. The results showed that ALND patients had higher prevalence of lymphedema, pain, reduced strength, and range of motion compared with SLNB patients. These findings support the continued de-escalation of axillary surgery.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility and safety of performing axillary lymph node dissection using a robotic surgical system in patients with node-positive breast cancer. The results showed that robotic axillary lymph node dissection is comparable to conventional axillary lymph node dissection in terms of early surgical outcomes, and it can reduce the size of the incision.

Summary: This study compared the survival outcomes of men with positive sentinel lymph nodes after either sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) alone or complete axillary dissection (ALND) in breast cancer. The results showed that ALND was associated with superior survival compared to SLNB alone in early-stage male breast cancer patients.

Summary: This study investigated the survival outcomes of patients with limited nodal burden in breast cancer. The data suggest that upfront SLNB and RNI for cN+ T1-2 tumors can provide favorable survival outcomes comparable to ALND with or without RNI.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine whether breast cancer patients with mastectomy and false-negative frozen section in sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) could forgo axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). The study found that SLNB and axillary radiation therapy could effectively replace ALND in selected patients who met specific criteria.

Summary: A simulator has been designed to safely practice and assess axillary lymph node dissection (ALND), and its face, content, and construct validity has been investigated. The study found that the simulator demonstrated construct validity for ALND assessment and could be a useful tool for skills training and assessments.

Summary: Although sentinel lymph node biopsy is the preferred method for axillary staging and therapeutic for limited nodal disease, axillary lymph node dissection is still necessary in certain cases and for maintaining local control with heavy axillary tumor burden. Knowledge of the number of involved axillary nodes, obtained through axillary lymph node dissection, is also needed for tailored systemic therapies. Ongoing trials will explore the possibility of radiotherapy as a replacement for axillary lymph node dissection in certain circumstances.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a physical therapist-designed program tailored to axillary web syndrome in women after breast cancer surgery. The results showed that the physical therapy group had significant improvements in pain intensity and various aspects of shoulder function compared to the control group. This study provides evidence for the effectiveness of manual lymph drainage with progressive arm exercises for axillary web syndrome.

Summary: This study explores the strategies used by women to adapt to changes after the first sexual relations following childbirth. The findings suggest that accepting changes, self-care, partner relationships, personal time, and adapting encounters are commonly used coping methods by postpartum women. These findings are important for health professionals to understand and communicate alternatives to couples before resuming sexual relations, in order to enhance satisfaction in both the relationship and sexual life after childbirth.

Summary: This study examined the response of the bladder base in primiparous women during movements that activate the abdominopelvic cavity musculature and cause variations in intra-abdominal pressure. The results showed that the contraction of pelvic floor muscles had a greater effect on the bladder base compared to the contraction of transverse abdominis muscles. During coughing and trunk flexion, the bladder base descended, and the contraction of pelvic floor muscles reduced the descent but could not fully counteract bladder displacement.

Summary: This study investigates changes in the pain sensory profile of women with breast cancer. It found that nociceptive pain was the predominant pain mechanism in the postoperative period, while sensitization increased one year after breast cancer surgery, especially in participants who received more treatment procedures. An assessment protocol including direct and indirect measurements allows for detecting changes in pain sensitivity.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of educational interventions and verbal instructions on improving the proprioception of pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) in women. Seven articles were reviewed, demonstrating that educational interventions and verbal instructions can improve the proprioception of PFMs in healthy women or those without a previous diagnosis of pelvic floor dysfunctions. Further high-quality randomized clinical trials are needed to draw definitive conclusions.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze and compare the 3D kinematics and kinetics of the thorax, elbow, and wrist in swing-through gait (SG) and reciprocal gait (RG). The results showed that SG had greater demands on trunk motor control and could increase the risk of back and neck pain. Therefore, RG should be recommended whenever possible for patients with incomplete spinal cord injury.

Summary: The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework is gaining interest in child rehabilitation as it focuses on the person's functioning rather than their medical diagnosis. However, there is a lack of accurate understanding and application of the ICF in the field of aquatic activities for children with developmental delay. A survey on studies published between 2010 and 2020 found that many articles did not refer to the ICF model accurately. To improve the use of the ICF in evaluations and goal-setting, increased knowledge and understanding of the framework and language is necessary, as well as improved understanding among instructors and researchers in the aquatic environment.
