Summary: Research has shown that folate deficiency in either parents can affect the biological functions of neural cells in offspring. This deficiency can impair the methionine cycle and lead to damage to the central nervous system. The study found that parental folate deficiency caused apoptosis of neural cells in neonatal rats, with the greatest effect seen when both parents were deficient.

Summary: Resveratrol may have anticarcinogenic effects by inhibiting human pancreatic cancer cell proliferation and affecting the levels of Bcl-2 proteins. However, its activity is specific to each tested cell line, with the most significant changes observed in the mitoxantrone-resistant cells.

Summary: This study investigated the role of AKR1B1 in glioma cell proliferation and apoptosis signaling. AKR1B1 expression was measured in different cell lines and tissues. The effects of AKR1B1 overexpression or knockdown, as well as p38 MAPK activation and inhibition, were evaluated. AKR1B1 was found to regulate glioma cell proliferation through the activation of p38 MAPK and apoptosis signaling. Therefore, AKR1B1 may be a potential therapeutic target for glioma therapy.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of a novel nanomaterial, PEI-Pt NCs, as an antitumor agent in osteosarcoma. The research findings demonstrate that PEI-Pt NCs can enter osteosarcoma cells, hinder cell migration and proliferation, and promote cell apoptosis by modulating the BAX-Bcl-2/Caspase 3/PARP axis.

Summary: The study found that the transcription levels of the RhBax gene in ticks increase significantly at all developmental stages, while the transcription levels of both RhBcl-2 and RhBax increase more significantly in the female salivary glands. Inhibiting RhBcl-2 expression significantly inhibited tick feeding, while interference with RhBax had no effect on tick feeding.

Summary: A series of 3-arylidene-4,6-dimethyl-5-hydroxy-7-azaoxindole compounds with various functional groups were synthesized and evaluated for their antitumor activity. Compound 6-15, containing a quinoline moiety, exhibited stronger cytotoxicity than sunitinib against multiple cancer cell lines. However, it showed weaker inhibitory activity against receptor tyrosine kinases compared to sunitinib. Compound 6-15 suppressed the expression of Gas6, the ligand of Axl, and demonstrated promising anticancer effects both in vitro and in vivo.

Summary: The study showed that janerin inhibits THP-1 cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner by causing cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase. Additionally, janerin promotes THP-1 cell death through apoptosis induction, which involves upregulation of pro-apoptotic markers and downregulation of anti-apoptotic marker. Furthermore, janerin treatment leads to the activation of P38-MAPK and ERK1/2 signaling pathways, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic agent for leukemia.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the expression of pro-apoptotic BAX and anti-apoptotic BCL-2 genes on lactation performance in Bos indicus and HF crossbred cows during early lactation. The results showed that BCL-2 gene promotes milk production while BAX gene opposes milk production. Bos indicus cows are more sensitive to apoptosis compared to HF crossbreds.

Summary: In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of hypercapnia, alone or in combination with hypoxia, on the activation of signaling pathways related to cell apoptosis. The degree of apoptosis was evaluated in both in vivo and in vitro ischemic models. The results showed that hypercapnic component can reduce apoptosis in the ischemic penumbra, decrease the levels of caspase-3, AIF, and Bax, and increase the level of Bcl-2.
