Summary: In this study, a randomized, double-blinded, sham-controlled trial was conducted to investigate the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on tinnitus. The results showed partial positive long-term effects of tDCS on auditory difficulties associated with tinnitus, as well as short-term negative effects on a specific aspect of general quality of life. However, the small sample size limited the statistical power of the analyzed items.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the effects of Long-snake-like moxibustion on chronic fatigue syndrome and its relationship with treatment duration. Sixty female CFS patients were divided into two groups and received 4 weeks of Long-snake-like moxibustion. The results showed that the group receiving 60 minutes of treatment had significantly greater improvement in fatigue levels and spleen-kidney yang deficiency symptoms compared to the group receiving 30 minutes of treatment. This suggests a positive dose-effect relationship between treatment duration and the effects of Long-snake-like moxibustion on CFS.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the safety and efficacy of spironolactone in patients undergoing dialysis. The results showed that spironolactone significantly reduced all-cause mortality, cardiovascular events, and left ventricular mass index, but increased the incidence of gynecomastia and serum potassium concentration.

Summary: Macrolide antibiotics have inhibitory effects on respiratory pathogens and non-anti-infective effects, showing important potential in the treatment of pediatric chronic airway diseases. Long-term, low-dose macrolide antibiotic therapy has been proven beneficial for children with severe asthma, CF, non-CF bronchiectasis, and BO, with good safety profile, although potential cardiac side effects and resistance should be noted clinically.

Summary: The effect of low-dose interleukin-2 (IL2(LD)) treatment on regulatory T cells (Tregs) in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients was modest and delayed, compared to other autoimmune diseases. Larger studies with increased dosages and/or modified modalities of administration are needed.

Summary: The effects of long-term selenium supplementation on bone turnover markers were investigated. The study found no significant impact of selenium supplementation on these markers. The relatively high baseline selenium status of the participants may explain this lack of effect.

Summary: This study investigated whether iron supplementation in hemodialysis patients could be delivered less frequently but with higher doses compared to the current more common schedules. The results showed that administering an equal cumulative dose of ferric carboxymaltose less frequently did not meet noninferiority for maintaining hemoglobin levels compared with iron sucrose administered more frequently.
