Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the alteration of histone H4 acetylation (H4ac) in the seminiferous tubules of testicular tumour patients. They found a considerable dysregulation of H4ac in the unaffected cells of the seminiferous tubules adjacent to the tumours, suggesting a potential paracrine effect of the neoplasia. This epigenetic alteration could have implications for the molecular changes in male germ cells in testicular tumour patients.

Summary: The study highlights the importance of lysine acetylation in maintaining chromatin structure and function, specifically focusing on the role of H4K16 acetylation in regulating the expression of constitutive genes. Deacetylation of H4K16 is associated with hypoacetylation of H4K12 and H3K9, along with hyperacetylation of H3K56, creating a chromatin landscape conducive for transcription of constitutive genes.

Summary: In this study, the researchers identified chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA) as the main pathway for the degradation of histones H3 and H4. The protein tNASP stabilizes histone H3 levels by preventing its entry into lysosomes. The study also revealed that CMA degrades unfolded histone H3.

Summary: This study found that H4K5acK8ac and H3K27ac signals have some overlap in binding to the super-enhancer transcription factor BRD4 at higher levels, but they also have distinct specificities, especially in glioblastoma stem-like cell lines. Deletion of H4K5acK8ac-preferred super-enhancers associated with MYCN and NFIC resulted in a reduction in stem-like properties.

Summary: T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LLy) and T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) were historically considered as variations of the same disease. However, recent evidence suggests that they may be distinct clinical and biological entities due to differential responses to chemotherapy. This article examines the differences between T-LLy and T-ALL, provides recommendations on the treatment of newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory T-LLy patients, and discusses ongoing investigations into novel therapies and the role of stem cell transplantation.

Summary: Post-translational modification of histones by the small ubiquitin-like modifier protein SUMO plays a key role in gene silencing, centromeric localization, and DNA repair in eukaryotes. The study demonstrated that H4K12su inhibits acetylation of H4 tail and methylation of H3K4 associated with transcription activation, as well as transcription mediated by RNA polymerase II. Cell-based assays confirmed the negative crosstalk between histone sumoylation and acetylation/methylation in human cells.

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the changes in epigenetic modulators, histone modifications, and DNA methylation during induced human endometrial stromal cells (ESC) in vitro decidualization. The results revealed that HDAC2 and subunits of PRC2 were down-regulated while the global level of H4hyperAc and H3K27me3 increased during ESC decidualization. Specific gene promoters' histone acetylation level also increased during the induced ESC decidualization, indicating the importance of epigenetic regulation in endometrial decidualization.

Summary: A retrospective analysis was conducted to investigate possible risk factors for death in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) after treatment with CCCG-ALL-2015 in China. Independent risk factors were identified, including age at diagnosis ≥10 years, high-risk final risk level, certain genetic abnormalities, presence of CNS3, and certain levels of minimal residual disease (MRD). Treatment-related mortality (TRM) accounted for a significant proportion of deaths, with a majority caused by severe infections. The CCCG-ALL-2015 regimen has shown a safety profile comparable to that of developed countries.

Summary: In this retrospective study, the disease characteristics and prognostic power of additional cytogenetic abnormalities (ACA) in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) patients treated with ATRA-ATO-containing regimens were investigated. The study showed that patients with ACA had decreased hemoglobin levels and worse risk stratification. Patients harboring ACA had inferior event-free survival (EFS), especially in CD34 and CD56 negative APL. ACA should be considered as an independent prognostic factor for EFS and risk-adapted therapeutic strategies should be developed.

Summary: In this study, a freestanding anode material for rechargeable sodium-ion batteries was designed by encapsulating Fe3O4/FeS2 heterojunction in a carbon membrane. The material exhibited high specific capacity, low cost, and was suitable for large-scale energy storage. It provided a fast electron transfer pathway and alleviated volume expansion during charging/discharging process. The direct contact between the heterojunction and electrolyte shortened the diffusion path of Na+, resulting in improved performance.

Summary: MXene-polyvinylpyrrolidone (MXene-PVP) was prepared by physically doping and spray drying to overcome the aggregation issue of MXene. The resulting MXene-PVP was carbonized to create a carbonized MXene-PVP (MXene-PVP-C), which was then immobilized on a stainless steel wire using the sol-gel approach to produce a solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fiber. This fiber was used to extract polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from tea beverages, and the extracted PAHs were detected using gas chromatography. Central composite design methodology was employed to investigate the main SPME parameters. Under optimized conditions, the method achieved low detection limits (0.03-0.15 μg/L) and quantification limits (0.10-0.50 μg/L) for the PAHs. The method exhibited good recoveries (78.6% to 122%) for the spiked PAHs in tea beverages, with low relative standard deviations (less than 8.2% for single-fiber and 9.6% for fiber-to-fiber).

Summary: A simultaneous MOF-on-MOF growth combined with the MOF-etching strategy was developed to tailor MOF/MOF nanorings, which were then transformed into N, P co-doped carbon rings (NPC-Rings) through thermal transformation and phosphidation activation. The hierarchically porous structure of NPC-Rings exhibited high adsorption capacity, fast salt adsorption rate, and superior capacity retention stability. Finite element simulations demonstrated that the unique structure of NPC-Rings significantly promoted current density and charge migration, leading to stronger salt adsorption capacity.
