Summary: This study found that intravesical administration of ketamine and norketamine can induce different types of cystitis, with norketamine treatment causing more severe bladder dysfunction than ketamine treatment. Detailed studies of cellular mechanisms are needed to determine the pathogenesis of ketamine cystitis.

Summary: Despite ketamine being popular in Taiwan, there are few studies on female sexual dysfunction in ketamine abusers. This study compared street and hospital ketamine abusers and found that LUTS was a significant risk factor for FSD in ketamine abusers.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism underlying social stress-induced erectile dysfunction (ED) and evaluated the effects of ketamine on ED. Male mice were exposed to retired male mice for 4 weeks, and in the third week, they were injected with either saline or ketamine. Erectile function was assessed, and the results showed lower response in mice exposed to social stress. Contractility and relaxation of the corpus cavernosum were also affected in these mice. The findings suggest the limited efficacy of ketamine as a therapeutic intervention for social stress-related ED.

Summary: Quality of life is influenced by health, family relations, self-esteem, and coping abilities. Endometriosis has a negative impact on various aspects of life, mainly due to constant pain. Women with endometriosis experience impaired quality of life compared to the general female population, with psychological consequences including depression, anxiety, and deterioration of interpersonal relations. A multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach to care is necessary to address the physical and psychological effects of this condition.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on ketamine-associated uropathy to summarize its clinical manifestations, urological assessments, and current management. The study found that frequency, urgency, and suprapubic pain were the most common clinical manifestations, and there were reductions in bladder capacity and urine flow rate in affected patients. Ketamine abstinence was found to be important for improving the condition of patients with ketamine-associated uropathy.

Summary: Recent evidence suggests a correlation between lifestyle, physical activity, and overall bodily functions. Decreased physical efficiency may indicate early systemic diseases. This study aimed to determine if there is a relationship between exercise tolerance and erectile dysfunction or mental disorders. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 254 men, using standardized questionnaires. Results showed that increasing exercise tolerance was associated with a reduction in the severity of erectile dysfunction and depressive disorders. Improving exercise tolerance can have positive effects on overall physical, sexual, and mental health in men.

Summary: Ketamine, a versatile analgesic, has become a popular recreational drug, with its chronic use linked to biliary duct damage and bladder dysfunction. The rare co-presentation of ketamine-induced cholangiopathy and ulcerative cystitis poses diagnostic challenges for emergency physicians. As knowledge and awareness of these conditions increase, cases of ketamine-induced cholangiopathy and ulcerative cystitis are expected to rise.

Summary: This study found that women undergoing mesh surgery for SUI or POP may face increased use of antibiotics and opioids, worsening mental and sexual health outcomes in the long term. However, for patients with a history of these issues, surgery may lead to improvements. Further consideration of individual benefits and risks is needed.

Summary: The study revealed knowledge gaps and factors influencing men regarding sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRHC), highlighting the importance of healthcare providers' knowledge and attitudes, as well as organizational obstacles. The lack of specific perspectives, such as migrants and men who have sex with men, demonstrates the need for improved health and medical education of healthcare providers and health system interventions.

Summary: Chronic ketamine abuse is found to be associated with bladder dysfunction and cystitis, with significant changes in urinary protein profiles, particularly an increase in APOA1 levels. Furthermore, urinary ketamine and metabolites are positively correlated with symptoms of overactive bladder syndrome, urinary RBC/WBC, and pain rating scale in ketamine abusers, providing potential insights for new molecular tools to manage ketamine-induced bladder dysfunction.

Summary: The study found that women with breast cancer use various coping strategies to overcome sexual problems and dysfunction, including accepting the illness through religious belief, altering sexual practices, seeking healthcare advice, modifying physical appearance, engaging in open discussions with their partners, and seeking support from other survivors. These mechanisms highlight the significance of religious beliefs and relationship context in coping strategies among women with breast cancer in Malaysia.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular mechanism of ketamine-induced bladder fibrosis and found that ketamine abuse had fibrotic effects on both rat bladders and SV-HUC-1 cells. The study also revealed that Metadherin (MTDH) regulated the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) through the P38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, contributing to bladder fibrosis progression.

Summary: Living in an area with insufficient trans healthcare structures can be disadvantageous for trans people. The i(2)TransHealth internet-based healthcare programme aims to address this issue by providing video consultations, 1:1 chats with therapists, and cooperation with physicians for crisis intervention. This study examines the (cost-)effectiveness of the programme for improving patient-reported health outcomes, its cost-effectiveness compared to standard care, and its impact on trans-related expertise in the physician network.

Summary: The clinicopathological features of cHCC-CC group were more similar to those of HCC group than CC group. The overall survival rate was significantly lower in cHCC-CC group compared to HCC group. However, after propensity score matching, there were no significant differences in overall survival and disease-free survival between cHCC-CC group and HCC group or CC group.
