Summary: This study investigated the association between computed tomography-assessed body composition and survival outcomes in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) receiving immunotherapy. The results showed that high subcutaneous adipose tissue percentage (SAT%) predicts better survival outcomes and this association is consistent in different subgroups.

Summary: Higher visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and total adipose tissue (TAT) are associated with lower tumor stage in renal cell cancer (RCC), possibly due to weight loss or cancer cachexia.

Summary: There is an association between body mass index and kidney cancer prognosis. Overweight and obese patients tend to have better cancer specific survival, progression-free survival, and overall survival, while underweight individuals show inferior cancer specific survival. Further research and prospective studies are needed to confirm the significance of body mass index on kidney cancer outcomes due to significant heterogeneity in current studies.

Summary: This study used an unsupervised machine learning approach to investigate morbidly obese kidney transplant recipients and found varying post-transplant outcomes among different clusters. Recipients with earlier access to transplantation and living donor kidneys demonstrated superior survival rates. The reduced graft survival in cluster 3 recipients may highlight socioeconomic disparities in post-transplant support and access to preemptive and living donor transplants. Obesity itself should be reconsidered as a strict barrier to kidney transplantation.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed advanced RCC patients receiving cabozantinib treatment, showing that a BMI >= 25 is associated with longer survival. BMI could serve as a significant predictor for prognosis in advanced RCC patients.

Summary: The study investigated the incidence of weight gain postrenal transplantation and identified potential risk factors, showing that patients with lower dialysis duration, a living kidney donor, and baseline obesity were more likely to gain weight. Close monitoring of weight changes in kidney transplant patients is necessary, and further research is needed to determine risk factors and appropriate interventions.

Summary: In clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the clustering of CD163+M2 like TAMs into the stromal compartment at the tumor-stroma interface is associated with poor clinical outcomes and CD8+T cell terminal exhaustion.

Summary: This research used a proteotranscriptomic approach to differentiate normal and tumor tissues in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Top genes over-expressed in ccRCC were identified using transcriptomic data of patients with malignant and normal tissue samples. Protein level analysis and mass spectrometry further validated the differential protein abundance of these genes. A minimal panel of proteins highly specific for ccRCC tissues was identified using transcriptomic and proteomic data.

Summary: This study revealed the correlation between m(6)A modification and the tumor immune landscape in ccRCC patients. The m6Ascore was established to quantify the m(6)A modification pattern and was confirmed to be an independent prognostic factor for ccRCC. The findings provide a new approach for immunotherapeutic strategies in ccRCC patients.

Summary: Obesity is associated with an increased risk and mortality of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Body mass index at diagnosis is not a reliable factor for predicting prognosis, as weight loss around diagnosis is correlated with worse outcomes.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the association between BMI subcategories and perioperative complications from radical cystectomy and to identify a BMI threshold that can help prevent and mitigate complication risk. The study found that overweight and obese patients have a higher risk of complications compared to normal BMI patients, and the risk significantly increases when the BMI exceeds 34 kg/m(2).

Summary: Urinary cytology is crucial for evaluating gross hematuria and monitoring urothelial neoplasms. A positive urine cytology typically indicates the presence of urothelial carcinoma in the urinary tract, but it may also suggest involvement of the lower gynecologic tract or rectum in women. Guidelines for evaluating women with positive cytology and normal urinary tract are lacking. This review aims to raise clinicians' awareness of this diagnostic dilemma with case scenarios.
