Summary: This study found that late menarche, early menopause, and a higher number of deliveries were significantly associated with a lower risk of endometrial cancer. These findings from a large pooled study of Asian women add to the growing body of evidence on the association between reproductive factors and endometrial cancer risk.

Summary: This study found that BMI trajectories in adult life are associated with endometrial cancer risk, with longer exposure to overweight and obesity across a lifetime increasing the risk. Weight during adulthood also plays an important role in EC risk.

Summary: Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) pose a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, and their risk factors are associated with COVID-19 severity and mortality. This study investigated the NCD risk profile among university employees in Indonesia and its relationship with contracting COVID-19. The findings revealed a high prevalence of NCD risk factors among university administrative employees, which increased their susceptibility to COVID-19. The study highlights the urgent need for a behavioral intervention program to manage NCD risk factors at the university level.

Summary: This study examined risk factors for Type I and Type II endometrial cancer and compared the influence of risk factors between the two types of tumors. The results showed overlapping risk factors for Type I and II tumors, suggesting that Type II tumors may be less estrogen-independent than previously thought. High-grade Type I tumors were found to resemble Type II tumors more than low-grade Type I tumors.

Summary: This study investigated the association between computed tomography-assessed body composition and survival outcomes in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) receiving immunotherapy. The results showed that high subcutaneous adipose tissue percentage (SAT%) predicts better survival outcomes and this association is consistent in different subgroups.

Summary: This study aimed to identify modifiable risk factors for atrial fibrillation (AF) in the midlife general population and estimate their impact. The results showed that high systolic blood pressure, obesity with central obesity, and an inactive lifestyle were significantly associated with incident AF. Maintaining or achieving a lower burden of modifiable risk factors was associated with decreased AF risk.

Summary: This study found a wide J-shaped association between body mass index (BMI) and esophageal cancer (OC) mortality among Asians, with underweight and extreme obesity increasing the risk of OC mortality. Additionally, smoking and alcohol consumption synergistically increased the OC mortality risk in underweight individuals.

Summary: The study found that PNPLA3 rs738409 gene polymorphism has a greater effect on liver fat in Asian lean individuals compared to overweight or obese individuals. The TM6SF2 rs58542926 gene variant is associated with reduced serum triglycerides only in lean individuals. No gene-BMI effect was observed for other gene polymorphisms.

Summary: This comprehensive review of human adipose tissue fails to mention the role of the endocannabinoid system in fat metabolism. The endogenous cannabinoids and their receptors, found in both white and brown fat, have been recognized as key players in adipose tissue metabolism. Rimonabant, an inverse agonist of cannabinoid receptor type 1, has shown promising effects as a therapeutic target for obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance, although its clinical use was discontinued due to neuropsychiatric side effects.

Summary: Adult adiposity is a significant risk factor for overall and endometrioid endometrial cancer risk. Child adiposity has minimal effect on overall risk but increases non-endometrioid endometrial cancer risk. These findings highlight the importance of interventions targeting adiposity at different life stages in preventing subtype-specific endometrial cancer.
