Summary: Our study found differences in forgetting patterns between patients with GGE and healthy controls in verbal and visuospatial tasks. Accelerated long-term forgetting (ALF) was observed in word recall among adult patients with GGE, with ongoing deficits in visuospatial memory among patients with epileptic activity. Future studies should further investigate the mechanisms of memory dysfunction in GGE patients.

Summary: Despite previous research on the effect of air pollutants on preterm birth (PTB), this study investigated the impact of particulate matter (PM) on PTB subtypes in Shanghai. Short-term exposure to PM2.5 and PM10 was positively associated with PTB and spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB) at a lag of 2 days. Long-term exposure to PM2.5 and PM10 in the 3rd trimester and 3 months before conception was associated with greater odds of sPTB and medically indicated preterm birth (miPTB). The findings suggest that different underlying causes of PTB may influence the susceptibility windows of PM exposure.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate device-related complications in a large real-world multicenter S-ICD cohort. Over 23.2 months of follow-up, the overall complication rate was 9.3%. Early unanticipated device battery depletions occurred in 2.2% of patients, while lead fracture was observed in 0.3%.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between birth memory and recall and the perception of traumatic birth in women who were a postpartum one-year period and the affecting factors. The study found that women had a moderate level of birth memories and recall, with a high percentage perceiving traumatic childbirth. Path analysis revealed that the score of Birth Memories and Recall Questionnaire and educational status (primary secondary school) had a positive and significant effect on the perception of traumatic birth. Improving women's perception of education and traumatic birth will contribute to positive birth memories and emotions.

Summary: This study describes a transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) protocol that selectively enhances working memory and long-term memory in older adults. By modulating low or high-frequency activity in specific brain areas, memory improvements can be sustained after intervention, with the rate of memory improvement predicting long-term effects, particularly for individuals with lower baseline cognitive function.

Summary: This study is the first to examine individual differences in long-term memory, arousal dysregulation, and intensity of attention within the same experiment. The findings suggest that there is a positive association between intensity of attention and recall ability, and a negative association between arousal dysregulation and recall ability. The results reveal potential sources of individual differences in long-term memory.

Summary: This study presents long-term cumulative treatment outcomes over a median period of 6.3 years on ataluren treatment for DMD patients. The results indicate a delay in loss of ambulation, as well as a slower decline in FVC and upper limb motor function even after loss of ambulation. The treatment with ataluren is considered safe and well tolerated throughout the follow-up period.

Summary: Mild neonatal encephalopathy may lead to adverse short- and long-term outcomes, including developmental disorders and motor and speech delay. The group with mild encephalopathy had significantly higher rates of adverse outcomes compared to the unexposed group.

Summary: This study investigated the association between pregnancy complications and total and cause-specific mortality, as well as the differences between Black and White pregnant participants. The results showed that Black pregnant participants had a higher incidence of pregnancy complications, and the associations between different complications and mortality risk differed between Black and White participants.

Summary: Research on an attractor network model suggests that the transitioning behavior of the network between memories is constrained by limit cycles, and predicts that recall capacity may increase with the addition of small amounts of noise. Additionally, the study indicates that the statistics of encoded memories have a strong effect on recall capacity, but power laws governing recall capacity are still expected to hold.

Summary: This study aimed to identify DNA methylation patterns associated with parity in women with relapse-onset multiple sclerosis (wwMS). The results showed differential methylation in whole blood and immune cell types, particularly in genes related to neural plasticity. Additionally, it was found that parous women exhibited slower biological aging compared to nulligravida women.

Summary: Retrieval practice leads to long-term memory enhancement known as the testing effect, but the neurobiological correlates of this effect at retrieval have not been fully characterized. A study found that retrieval practice during training establishes a unique striatal-supramarginal network at retrieval that promotes enhanced memory performance. Study alone yields poorer memory but greater activations in frontal regions.
