Summary: This study investigates the feasibility of extracting 2,3-butanediol (2,3-BDO) from model aqueous solutions using aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS). The results suggest that ATPS based on PEG-salt has a high potential for industrial application, as it allows for the recovery and purification of 2,3-BDO produced from microbiological synthesis under mild conditions and a simple process.

Summary: In this study, a salt-inducible NAC gene PsnNAC090 was successfully isolated and found to play an important role in plant development and stress response. Transient transformation experiments confirmed the protein localization in the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus. Further experiments revealed that PsnNAC090 enhances salt and osmotic tolerance by increasing reactive oxygen species scavenging and reducing lipid peroxide content. These findings suggest that PsnNAC090 is a potential candidate gene for stress response.

Summary: Janus particles with two chemically different surfaces, useful in various fields, were fabricated by forming amide bonds through a chemical reaction and distributed in an aqueous two-phase system. The particles with carboxyl groups located at the top phase, and those with amine ligands went to the bottom phase, showing potential applications in biomolecule-probing sensors and reaction catalysts.

Summary: The study identified the response of SAMDC (AhSAMDC) in peanut under salt stress and further demonstrated that overexpressing AhSAMDC can enhance plant resistance to salt stress by increasing polyamine content and alleviating membrane damage, as validated in transgenic tobacco lines.

Summary: In this study, a water-soluble calixarene, p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene (SC[4]), was used as an adjuvant to improve the performance of the PEG 600/(NH4)(2)SO4 ATPS through multiple interactions. It was found that the formation of the ATPS was enhanced and the transfer of the target molecules into the polymer phase was promoted when SC[4] and SC[4]/imidazole ionic liquid ([C(n)mim]Br) complex were used as the adjuvants.

Summary: The study identified Lvbi1 as an insertion exon in the TRIM5 gene of Papio anubis (baboon), which has a higher mutation frequency in baboons. Comparative sequence analysis suggested that the evolution of Lvbi1 exon may be influenced by positive selection.

Summary: The study extracted salt stress tolerance-ameliorating metabolites and growth-promoting hormones from marine brown macroalgae Sargassum wightii, which were used as a liquid fertilizer for okra. The addition of ascorbic acid (AsA) further enhanced the stress tolerance and growth promotion effects of the algal extract on okra plants.

Summary: High concentration protein formulations for subcutaneous injection are important in the pharmaceutical industry. Protein powder suspensions in non-aqueous vehicles, such as semifluorinated alkanes, enable high concentration formulations with low viscosity and low injection forces. In contrast, suspensions prepared with cryo-milled powder have higher viscosities and cannot be injected at the same concentration.

Summary: A molecular dynamic simulation model was developed and validated to predict the partition of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) in EO20PO80/water aqueous two-phase system (ATPS). Na2SO4 was found to be the most effective salt in lowering EO20PO80 content and enhancing the recovery of mAbs. By adding 300 mM Na2SO4, the recovery of rituximab reached 97.88% +/- 0.95% with a viability of 95.57%. A prediction model for mAb distribution in ATPS was proposed and validated for trastuzumab, achieving a recovery of 95.63% +/- 2.86% under the suggested extraction conditions.
