Summary: In this work, the detection of explosive photolysis gases using gas sensors is achieved by exposing nitro-explosives to ultraviolet light and detecting the decomposition characteristics. A classification system based on a convolutional neural network and long short-term memory network is introduced for fast and accurate classification. This work provides a unique perspective for the classification of trace explosives using sensor technology.

Summary: The detection of intact explosives in the field is a unique challenge, and handheld Raman instruments have become popular for their speed, reliability, and portability. However, there is limited research on the detection capabilities of these instruments for explosive compounds. This study evaluated the detection capabilities of two handheld Raman spectrometers and investigated interference from glass and plastic containers. The results showed reproducible spectra for all analytes across both instruments, with the Rigaku ResQ-CQL displaying better resolution.

Summary: This study investigates how manipulation of a physical quantity in molecular structure can lead to improved sensing performance for detecting ethylenediamine. By varying a set of thiols, the researchers found that a model molecule with dual-carboxyl thiol exhibited the strongest fluorescence, allowing for ultrasensitive detection of EDA. The findings suggest that this electron-tuning strategy can enhance fluorescence and provide insight for molecule-customized design in widening applications.

Summary: In this study, an integrated optoelectronics system composed of Raman Spectroscopy System and visible/near infrared hyperspectral camera is proposed for the real-time detection and identification of explosive traces on different background materials. The combined system overcomes the limitations of each system when used separately. The results show that the integrated system is capable of accurately detecting and identifying explosive materials.

Summary: Online reviews have a significant impact on decision making in society, especially in the buying and selling of goods. The truthfulness of internet reviews is crucial, as fake reviews can mislead customers and affect sales. Detection models for fake reviews are needed, but concept drift in text data streams has been shown to reduce their effectiveness. Addressing the real correlation between concept drift score and classification of performance over time in real-world data streams remains a challenge.

Summary: The development of a new tetraimidazolium salt based on triphenylamine for the synthesis of tetranuclear silver(I) octacarbene metallacage showed a nine-fold emission enhancement in dilute solution, making it a potential candidate for picric acid recognition. The enhanced emission intensity and the presence of the triphenylamine core resulted in a considerable detection limit toward picric acid, highlighting the potential of using metal-carbene bond-directed rigidification-induced enhanced emission for sensing applications.

Summary: Fluctuations in the supply of ultra high purity (UHP) helium can have a negative impact on critical research efforts. Due to increased demand for helium, disruptions in supply are likely to continue. The development of an alternative carrier gas is necessary to overcome these disruptions and maintain the critical functionalities.
