Summary: This study revealed that the long noncoding RNA HCP5 is highly expressed in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and plays a role in promoting cancer cell growth, migration, and invasion. HCP5 interacts with miR-216a-5p, and its knockdown inhibits the malignant biological function of LSCC cells. Moreover, miR-216a-5p downregulates the expression of ZEB1, a target gene involved in LSCC progression. These findings suggest that targeting HCP5 may be a potential therapeutic strategy for LSCC.

Summary: In this study, we identified a novel mechanism by which miR-125b enhances metastasis in CRC by targeting CFTR and CGN, promoting EMT and uPA expression and secretion, and enhancing RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway. These findings suggest miR-125b as a key functional molecule in CRC and a promising biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment of CRC.

Summary: The study demonstrated that an aberrant upregulation of PTAR in cervical cancer tissues and cell lines promotes proliferation, migration, and invasion of HeLa cells, while inhibiting apoptosis and downregulating miR-101 expression through direct binding. These findings suggest that PTAR plays a crucial role and may serve as a promising target for cervical cancer diagnosis and therapy.

Summary: LUZP1 exhibits frequent genomic aberrations in cancer, particularly gene deletions, and its loss promotes cell migration, invasion, apoptosis, and alterations in cell morphology. Additionally, LUZP1 plays regulatory roles beyond actin filament bundling, affecting actin polymerization through changes in ACTR3 and phospho-cofilin ratios. These findings suggest a novel role for LUZP1 in cancer regulation through actin cytoskeleton control.

Summary: In ovarian cancer patients, TMEM119 is overexpressed and associated with poor survival. Experimental results indicate TMEM119 promotes proliferation, invasion, and migration of ovarian cancer cells. Additionally, TMEM119 may exert oncogenic effects by regulating PDGFRB expression and activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.

Summary: This study reveals the upregulation of RNF187 in colorectal cancer (CRC) and its association with poor prognosis. Inhibition of RNF187 expression suppresses the proliferation, migration, and invasion while promoting apoptosis of CRC cells. miR-144-5p is identified as a direct target of RNF187, and its downregulation in CRC tissues is negatively correlated with RNF187 expression. Restoration of miR-144-5p significantly inhibits CRC cell progression, which can be abolished by overexpression of RNF187.

Summary: Colorectal cancer is a highly prevalent and deadly tumor. This study investigated the role of zinc finger protein 3 (ZNF3) in colorectal cancer and found that ZNF3 is highly expressed in colorectal cancer tissue and cells, particularly in older patients. Overexpression of ZNF3 promotes cell migration, while knockdown of ZNF3 suppresses cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and induces cell cycle arrest. ZNF3 appears to regulate the expression of TWIST and MMP1, which are involved in epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and their overexpression exacerbates cell proliferation and affects cell functions.

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the function of cyclin-dependent kinase 14 (CDK14) in mammary development and breast cancer progression. The results showed that CDK14 is expressed in mammary basal cells and elevated in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). CDK14 knockdown or inhibition was found to suppress mammary regeneration and the progression of TNBC.

Summary: Ischemic stroke is a common and serious disease, and neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in its progression. Microglia, astrocytes, and infiltrating immune cells are involved in the complicated neuroinflammation cascade, releasing different molecules that affect inflammation. Flavonoids, plant-specific compounds, have shown protective effects against cerebral ischemia injury by modulating the inflammatory responses.
