Summary: Four new sesquiterpenoids and one new natural product, along with three known compounds, were isolated from Datura stramonium L. leaves. The structures of the new compounds were identified through extensive spectroscopic analysis and comparison with literature. The cytotoxicity of the isolated compounds against LN229 cells was evaluated, and compounds 2-4 and 7 exhibited cytotoxic activity with IC50 values ranging from 8.03 to 13.83 μM.

Summary: Eight new steroids, mantuoluosides A-H (1-8), were discovered from Datura stramonium L. Their structures were determined using spectroscopic methods and comparison data. The study evaluated the anti-inflammatory activities of these compounds and found potential anti-inflammatory activity at non-cytotoxic concentrations, with varying degrees of inhibition rate.

Summary: Kappa-carrageenan was blended with potato peel starch to enhance hydrogel properties and water-absorbing capacity for safe and biodegradable children's toys. The blend formation showed proper reaction with shifts in characteristic peaks, rough surface topology, and presence of small pores. Enzymatic treatment displayed increased surface roughness and higher water-uptake capacity, demonstrating potential for making safe and biodegradable molded toys.

Summary: Grafting potato into Solanaceae plants improves the fertility of potato and leads to differential gene expression related to genome damage and genotoxic stress response. The study also identifies the movement of mRNA between rootstock and scion, with some of the mobile transcripts having a role in regulating pollen tube development and fruit morphogenesis.

Summary: The characteristics and antibacterial activity of biosynthesized magnesium oxide nanoparticles were studied using various experimental methods and tests. The results showed that these nanoparticles had a crystalline structure and a spherical morphology, and exhibited good inhibitory effects against bacteria. These findings suggest that biosynthesized nanoparticles have medicinal value and are environmentally friendly.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the additive effect of Datura stramonium leaves mucilage in the making of buccoadhesive film using Aceclofenac as a model drug. Nine formulations of buccal films were made and tested for compatibility and physical constraints, with F-9 formulation containing 1:1 Aceclofenac and ethyl cellulose showing good Mucoadhesion time and Bioadhesive strength. The study concluded that the buccoadhesive drug delivery system with ethyl cellulose aided by D. stramonium leaves mucilage is an efficient approach to enhance bioavailability and surpass hepatic first-pass metabolism.

Summary: Three new compounds and one known compound were isolated from Vietnamese red alga Tricleocarpa fragilis, all of which showed potent inhibitory activity against yeast alpha-glucosidase. The substitutions at C-3 and differences in the cycloartane-skeleton side chain were found to influence the interaction of the molecules with the enzyme, consistent with experimental findings.

Summary: Polyopes lancifolius, an introduced species of Halymeniales, was biochemically described in this study. The analysis of the algal raw material revealed similar levels of sugars, proteins, lipids, and ash compared to other Halymeniales species. The presence of various amino acids and polysaccharides was also determined. This study provided new insights into the composition of P. lancifolius.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether Datura stramonium leaf extract (DSLE) could prevent the nephrotoxic side effects of methotrexate (MTX) in rats. The results showed that DSLE significantly reduced the levels of creatinine, urea and uric acid induced by MTX, as well as mitigated oxidative damage and inflammatory response in the kidneys.
