Summary: This study aimed to determine the correlation between clinical variables and oxidative stress levels in children and adolescents with ADHD. The results showed that ADHD patients had higher oxidative stress levels and lower superoxide dismutase activity. Low superoxide dismutase and high malondialdehyde were identified as predictive parameters for diagnosing ADHD. In ADHD patients under medication, total oxidant status, oxidative stress index, and superoxide dismutase values were higher, while total antioxidant status was higher in patients not using medication.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of polyphenolic compounds from pine bark extract (PE) on inattention and impulsivity in children with ADHD. PE supplementation significantly reduced ADHD symptoms and improved antioxidative status. This suggests that PE supplementation may have potential benefits in ameliorating symptoms and enhancing antioxidative status in children with ADHD.

Summary: Hyperfocus and flow are intense concentration experiences associated with reduced perception of irrelevant stimuli and improved task performance. Hyperfocus has been historically seen as a symptom of ADHD, autism, or schizophrenia, while flow is regarded as an enjoyable experience in positive psychology. Recent studies suggest that hyperfocus and flow may be the same phenomenon viewed from different perspectives.

Summary: The C3a receptor plays a crucial role in neurodevelopment and cognitive functions in the adult brain, with its deficiency associated with abnormalities in neurodevelopment, including short-term memory deficits and increased locomotor activity.

Summary: The study compared demographic, clinical, and symptomatologic features between Dual Disorder A-ADHD (DD/A-ADHD) patients and those without dual disorders (NDD/A-ADHD). Results showed that NDD patients were more likely diagnosed with inattentive ADHD subtype, while DD/A-ADHD patients displayed more severe symptoms of hyperactivity/impulsivity. Type 1 and Type 2 substance use patterns had different effects on A-ADHD patients, leading to varied implications in diagnostic and therapeutic processes.

Summary: This study provides a systematic review and analysis of the effectiveness of electroencephalogram-based neurofeedback (EEG-NF) in treating the core symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adolescents/adults. The results suggest that EEG-NF can effectively improve inattention symptoms, but its effectiveness in reducing hyperactivity/impulsivity remains inconclusive.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in brain markers in spontaneously hypertensive rats at different ages and found potential factors related to the pathogenesis of ADHD. The upregulation of Iba-1 in the senescent stage, alterations in nNOS expression at different stages, and age-related astrogliosis were observed, suggesting their contribution to ADHD pathogenesis.

Summary: ADHD symptoms exacerbate the impact of procrastination and internalizing symptoms on emotional burden, but do not enhance the association between procrastination and internalizing symptoms. Procrastination should be the treatment target for individuals with ADHD and comorbid internalizing symptoms.

Summary: This study examined the diagnostic indicators, clinical characteristics, and functional impairment associated with adult ADHD using electronic medical records and self-report measures. The results showed a significant difference in prevalence of ADHD between self-report screening and medical records. ADHD was found to contribute to functional impairment even when controlling for other psychiatric comorbidities.

Summary: This study found that patients with adult ADHD had increased plasma concentrations of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P d18:1), sphinganine-1-phosphate (S1P d18:0), anandamide (AEA), and arachidonoylglycerol, while patients with affective disorders had increased long chain ceramides, particularly Cer22:0, but lower levels of endocannabinoids. Patients with comorbid ADHD and affective disorders displayed intermediate levels of sphingolipids compared to non-comorbid patients. The ratio of S1P d18:1 to Cer22:0 may be a potential diagnostic or prognostic tool.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the association between ADGRL3 gene variants and ADHD susceptibility in children and adults, finding significant correlation in children but not in adults. The results suggest that ADGRL3 gene is predominantly associated with childhood ADHD.

Summary: Inattention is a key symptom of ADHD, but the mechanisms underlying it are unclear. More specific approaches are needed to link disruptions in cognitive performance with ADHD behaviors. A pilot study found that even typically developing children did not maximally extract and combine information to maximize rewards in a cognitive task targeting attention selection mechanisms.
