Summary: Hypoglycemia is a common complication in diabetes patients, with impairments in counterregulatory responses and hypoglycemia unawareness as main risk factors for severe episodes. Hypoglycemia is associated with physical and psychological morbidity, and fear of hypoglycemia can hinder glycemic control in patients.

Summary: The study identified a CV of 40 as the threshold that distinguishes unstable glucose variability and hypoglycemia from stable GV in Japanese outpatients with type 2 diabetes. Impaired insulin secretion might affect the stability of glucose variability.

Summary: Sulfonylureas are effective and affordable antidiabetic drugs, but chronic use leads to secondary failure. Cytochrome b5 reductase 3 (Cyb5r3) down-regulation is identified as a mechanism of secondary SU failure and can be successfully reversed. Cyb5r3 activators can rescue secondary SU failure and potentially rehabilitate SU use in diabetes.

Summary: This study reviewed and updated the management of hypoglycemia in people with diabetes, aiming to reduce and prevent it. A multidisciplinary panel of experts identified 10 clinical questions and made 10 recommendations. These recommendations can be used to inform clinical practice and improve healthcare systems, as hypoglycemia is an important complication for people with diabetes.

Summary: Hypoglycemia, a common consequence of diabetes treatment, is associated with severe morbidity and mortality and has become a major barrier to intensifying antidiabetic therapy. Dementia generally refers to the loss of memory, language, problem-solving, and other cognitive functions, which can interfere with daily life, and there is growing evidence that diabetes is associated with an increased risk of both vascular and non-vascular dementia.

Summary: Hypoglycemia is common in ICU survivors with type-2 diabetes, especially during the night, and is often asymptomatic and prolonged. While hypoglycemia was associated with an increased risk of bradycardia, it did not impact atrial or ventricular ectopics, heart rate variability, or cardiac repolarization.

Summary: ApoA-I, the main component of HDL, has multiple cardioprotective and antidiabetic functions. This review summarizes the current knowledge of apoA-I's antidiabetic effects, the mechanism behind these effects, and the potential of small peptides that mimic apoA-I to be used as innovative treatments for diabetes.

Summary: The study found that switching to hybrid closed-loop (HCL) insulin delivery systems led to improvements in HbA1c, time in range, hypoglycemia, and quality of life in adults with type 1 diabetes, despite previous use of intermittently scanned continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump therapy.

Summary: Perinatal stress induced hyperinsulinism (PSIHI) in infants is associated with high risk of neurodevelopmental deficits, with a significant proportion scoring below average on developmental assessments compared to the general population. Risk factors include male sex, being small for gestational age (SGA), and treatment with continuous feeds.

Summary: It was found that feeding working farm dogs an ultra-low CHO high fat diet was associated with decreased IG concentrations but increased activity levels. IG concentrations were positively correlated with dogs' activity levels regardless of diet. Events of low IG occurred at a low incidence and were mainly seen between late evening and early morning in dogs fed the ultra-low CHO high fat diet.
