Summary: Using bilayer lipid membrane technique, this study reveals that two tannins (PGG and dGVG) possess antihemolytic activity by inhibiting the formation and conductivity of alpha-hemolysin channels. Spectroscopic analysis shows that these tannins form complexes with hemolysin, disrupting its interaction with the membrane. Moreover, PGG can block the release of the toxin by bacterial cells. These findings suggest the therapeutic potential of PGG and other tannins in combating S. aureus virulence.

Summary: Poly(phenylquinoxaline)s are aromatic condensation polymers known for their thermal and chemical stability. Sulfonated block copoly(phenylquinoxaline)s with different hydrophobic segments were synthesized and achieved ion exchange capacities of 1.77-2.36 mmol g-1. The resulting flexible films exhibited proton conductivities in the range of 48-110 mS cm-1 and good water uptake and dimensional stability.

Summary: A full-dimensional potential energy surface for acetylacetone was presented using full and fragmented permutationally invariant polynomial approaches, showing tunneling splitting at different barrier heights. Calculations of electronic barrier height for H-atom transfer and splitting values were conducted using various methods, with results indicating fast evaluation of the fragmented surface.

Summary: Mechanochemistry has emerged as an effective and controllable method to synthesize crystalline porous catechol-derived metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The obtained crystalline phase can be tuned by precursors, solvents, or drying agents. This sustainable approach opens up possibilities for accessing a broader class of MOF materials beyond carboxylic acid or imidazole-based motifs.

Summary: In this study, the production of D-mesons in high-energy pp collisions at the LHC kinematic regime is analyzed using the color dipole approach in the momentum representation. Predictions for the differential cross section of D-mesons in terms of transverse momentum and rapidity distributions, considering the nonlinear behavior of QCD dynamics, are presented. Comparison between the results and experimental measurements reported by the ALICE and LHCb Collaborations in different rapidity bins is performed. It is shown that the high energy production of D-mesons can be properly addressed using the QCD dipole transverse momentum distributions.

Summary: Membrane separation technology is an efficient and energy-saving alternative for industrial processes. The development of high-performance membrane materials is crucial for membrane separation applications. Porous organic molecular materials, known for their solution processability and stability, have emerged as promising candidates. This review summarizes recent advances in the fabrication of membranes using porous organic molecular materials and highlights their applications in gas separation, ion separation, water treatment, and proton exchange in fuel cells. It also discusses research challenges and future directions for the design and development of high-performance separation membranes.

Summary: Bi3+-sensitized Gd2O3:Eu3+ phosphors were synthesized hydrothermally, and the lattice substitution of Bi3+ in Gd2O3 resulted in efficient energy transfer to the excited states of Eu3+. The color emission can be tuned by changing the activator concentration.
