Summary: In this study, two novel coumarin-based thiosemicarbazone sensors were developed for anionic detection. Structural analysis of the sensors was conducted using NMR, CHN analysis, UV-Visible spectroscopy, and fluorescence emission spectroscopy. The sensors exhibited visible color changes from colorless to yellow, indicating their ability to detect anions. These sensors hold potential for daily life applications, such as test strips and detecting F- ions in toothpaste samples.

Summary: We synthesized a symmetrical N,N'-bis(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propyl)oxalamide-based receptor OX(PID)(2) and characterized it using various physicochemical techniques. The receptor exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity towards Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions and showed cytotoxicity against MDA-MB-231 cells, suggesting its potential as an anticancer agent. The biological activities of the newly created oxalamide-based compounds were evaluated against pathogenic bacteria, showing moderate to good antibacterial activity.

Summary: This study presents two rationally designed chemosensors, L1 and L2, which are capable of fluorescent detection of Ni2+ and Zn2+ ions. The coordination of Ni2+ and Zn2+ ions with the chemosensors leads to significant changes in their emission and absorption spectra. Competitive binding experiments, detection limits, and binding constants demonstrate the remarkable sensing abilities of L1 and L2 towards Ni2+ and Zn2+ ions.

Summary: A recent design successfully addressed the solubilization of hydrophobic fluorophores in aqueous solution by utilizing amphiphilic polymers to encapsulate the fluorophores. By adjusting the molecular design of the polymer and the attachment of the hydrophobic fluorophores, the formation of single-chain nanoparticles bearing single fluorophores in PBS solution was achieved with high fluorescence quantum yield. This molecular design is well-suited for aqueous solubilization of hydrophobic fluorophores in life science applications.

Summary: Computed tomography and conventional X-ray radiography often create micro-artifacts around metal implants, leading to false diagnoses of bone maturation or pathological peri-implantitis. A novel NIRF molecular imaging system was developed to repair these artifacts and monitor bone maturation. The system accurately identified image loss caused by metal artifacts and can be used to evaluate new types of implant fixtures or surface treatments.

Summary: Hierarchical assemblies of a new silver nanocluster, Ag-70-TPP, have been synthesized and characterized, showing a highly space-efficient double helical 4H close packing pattern directed by ligands. The chirality of Ag-70-TPP and van der Waals forces interactions between ligands play a key role in driving its arrangement, with observed interlocking of phosphine ligands contributing to the structure. This work provides important and unprecedented insights into the internal structure and crystallographic arrangement of nanoclusters.
