Summary: The study demonstrates the important role of EDIL3 in cardiac remodeling after myocardial infarction. EDIL3 deficiency improves adverse cardiac healing mainly through the mechanism of neutrophil extracellular trap-mediated pro-inflammatory macrophage polarization.

Summary: Lymphopenia after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is associated with adverse cardiac consequences and poor prognosis. Increased expression of regulatory T cell and immune checkpoint genes CD25, CD69, PD-1, and CTLA-4 following STEMI correlates with better short- and long-term cardiac structure and function, with CD25 potentially predicting the extent of infarction size after one week.

Summary: Loss of endothelial S1pr1 exacerbates post-MI cardiac remodelling and worsens cardiac dysfunction by reducing reparative macrophage accumulation. Activation of S1pr1 enhances Ly6c(low) macrophage proliferation and ameliorates cardiac remodelling after MI through the ERK/CSF1 pathway.

Summary: Infusion of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) in patients with acute anterior myocardial infarction did not have significant effects on parameters of left ventricular remodeling. However, there was a trend towards reduced left ventricular infarction size in patients with a baseline left ventricular ejection fraction of <40% who were treated with BNP. These results do not support the use of intravenous BNP in patients after recent myocardial infarction.

Summary: This study investigated the beneficial role of the endogenous nontoxic aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) agonist ITE in delaying the progression of heart failure in the chronic phase of myocardial infarction (MI). The results showed that treatment with ITE rescued cardiac remodelling and dysfunction in MI rats and attenuated myocardial fibrosis, inflammation, and mitochondrial damage. ITE also improved myocardial cell apoptosis through the Akt/p70S6K signalling pathway by activating the AHR receptors.

Summary: Most patients survive acute myocardial infarction, but the prevalence of heart failure is increasing, leading to economic strain on healthcare systems. Pathological changes in the heart significantly impact patient outcomes. Risk factors like diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and female sex can distinctively shape the progression towards heart failure.

Summary: AOC3 plays a critical role in cardiac fibrosis and hypertrophy after myocardial infarction (MI) by promoting hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) generation. AOC3 knockdown inhibits the activation of cardiac fibroblasts and alleviates cardiac fibrosis in mice after MI. AOC3 is a promising therapeutic target against cardiac remodelling.

Summary: Myocardial infarction is a leading cause of global mortality, with different treatment approaches being evaluated through clinical trials. Current research focuses on therapeutic targets such as ischemia, inflammation, fibrosis, angiogenesis, and cellular stress. Novel biomaterial-based systems and unexplored translational studies offer promising avenues for future therapeutic strategies.

Summary: This study explored the functional significance of co-operative DNA binding of STAT1 in an experimental murine model of acute myocardial infarction (MI). The results showed that a loss of STAT1 tetramer stabilization improved survival and left ventricular dysfunction in male and female mice, respectively. Additionally, dysfunctional STAT1 signaling caused a compensatory increase in STAT3 expression and promoted early infiltration of immune cells in the infarcted area.

Summary: After a heart attack, decreased plasma concentrations of extracellular vesicles from endothelial cells, erythrocytes and platelets may predict left ventricular remodelling, potentially indicating dysfunctional cardiac repair mechanisms and aiding in the identification of patients at risk for developing cardiac remodelling.
