We investigate of the properties of 2000 Herschel/SPIRE far-infrared-selected galaxies from 0 < z < 4 in the CFHTLS-D1 field. Using a combination of extensive spectroscopy from the VVDS and ORELSE surveys, deep multiwavelength imaging from. CFHT, VLA, Spitzer, XMM-Newton, and Herschel, and well-calibrated spectral energy distribution fitting, Herschel-bright galaxies are compared to optically-selected galaxies at a variety of redshifts. Herschel-selected galaxies are observed to span a range of stellar masses, colors, and absolute magnitudes equivalent to galaxies undetected in SPIRE. Though many Herschel galaxies appear to be in transition, such galaxies are largely consistent with normal star-forming galaxies when rest-frame colors are utilized. The nature of the star-forming main sequence is studied and we warn against adopting this framework unless the main sequence is determined precisely. Herschel galaxies at different total infrared luminosities (L-TIR) are compared. Bluer optical colors, larger nebular extinctions, and larger contributions from younger stellar populations are observed for galaxies with larger L-TIR, suggesting that low-L-TIR galaxies are undergoing rejuvenated starbursts while galaxies with higher L-TIR are forming a larger percentage of their stellar mass. A variety of methods are used to select powerful active galactic nuclei (AGN). Galaxies hosting all types of AGN are observed to be undergoing starbursts more commonly and vigorously than a matched sample of galaxies without powerful AGN and, additionally, the fraction of galaxies with an AGN increases with increasing star formation rate at all redshifts. At all redshifts (0 < z < 4) the most prodigious star-forming galaxies are found to contain the highest fraction of powerful AGN. For redshift bins that allow a comparison (z > 0.5), the highest L-TIR galaxies in a given redshift bin are unobserved by SPIRE at subsequently lower redshifts, a trend linked to downsizing. In conjunction with other results, this evidence is used to argue for prevalent AGN-driven quenching in starburst galaxies across cosmic time.

Summary: The Euclid mission of the European Space Agency aims to provide high-quality imaging for 1.5 billion galaxies. Summary: This paper presents the combination of CHFT CLAUDS and HSC-SSP data over four deep fields, providing catalogs and photometric redshifts in multiple bands. The photometry extraction was done using hscPipe and SExtractor software, and the photometric redshifts were computed using Phosphoros and Le Phare codes. The comparison and assessment of the methods were carried out using spectroscopic samples and catalogs from COSMOS2020. The results show good agreement between the data sets and achieve high precision for photometric redshifts.

Summary: The surveys conducted by Euclid will serve as a reference for the study of galaxy morphology, providing imaging over an unprecedented area. This paper evaluates the accuracy of parametric galaxy morphology measurements in imaging predicted from within the Euclid Wide Survey. It is concluded that the official Euclid Data Releases will deliver robust structural parameters for at least 400 million galaxies in the Euclid Wide Survey.

Summary: Cosmological constraints from the Euclid imaging survey rely on accurate determination of tomographic redshift bins' true redshift distributions, n(z). We investigate the calibration of mean redshift, < z >, of ten Euclid tomographic redshift bins using cross-correlation with spectroscopic samples. Our results show that clustering redshifts can attain uncertainties exceeding the Euclid requirement by at least a factor of three, but systematic biases limit the accuracy. Future work includes extending the method to higher redshifts with quasar reference samples.

Cosmic Evolution of Gas and Star Formation *

Summary: ALMA observations are used to estimate the gas masses in a sample of 708 star-forming galaxies and determine their dependence on redshift, M (*), and star formation rate relative to the main sequence. The increase in star formation rates of the main sequence is explained by increased gas masses at earlier epochs and increased efficiency of star formation. However, for galaxies above the main sequence, the increased star formation rate is mainly due to elevated star formation efficiencies. The interstellar gas peaks at z = 2 and dominates the stellar mass down to z = 1.2.

Summary: We propose a new method based on information theory to determine the optimal number of bands required for accurate measurement of physical properties of galaxies. Using the COSMOS2020 catalog, we identify the most relevant bands for measuring physical properties of galaxies in a H20 and UVISTA-like survey. We find that certain bands provide the most information for redshift and stellar mass measurements, and a machine-learning model trained over extensive spectral coverage outperforms template fitting.

Summary: Euclid's photometric galaxy cluster survey has the potential to be a strong cosmological probe. A new calibration of the halo mass function for accurate recovery of cosmological parameters from Euclid cluster counts is presented. The calibration is based on N-body simulations and takes into account systematic errors arising from numerical effects. The results demonstrate a sub-percent accuracy in reproducing results from various cosmological models, except for the effect of the halo finder algorithm which could lead to biased cosmological inference.

Summary: Using JWST medium-band and broadband NIRCam imaging, as well as ultradeep MIRI 5.6 μm imaging, researchers identified prominent line emitters at z similar or equal to 7-8 in the Hubble eXtreme Deep Field. Out of 58 galaxies at z similar or equal to 7-8, 18 robust candidates (about 31%) for (H beta + [O III]) emitters were found. These emitters were characterized by enhanced fluxes in the F430M and F444W filters, with EW0(H beta +[O III]) similar or equal to 87-2100 angstrom. The presence of H alpha emission was detected in individual galaxies at z > 7 for the first time, indicating the importance of strong Ha emitters in reionization.

Summary: We conducted a search for highly obscured, extremely red galaxies at z>7 using JWST/NIRCam+MIRI imaging, and identified two galaxies, COS-z8M1 and CEERS-z7M1, with best-fit photometric redshifts of z = 8.4(-0.4)(+0.3) and 7.6(-0.1)(+0.1) respectively. These galaxies are compact, highly obscured, and likely have strong emission lines contributing to their photometry. If confirmed at z similar to 8, they could represent a significant population of highly dust-obscured galaxies at cosmic dawn.
