Summary: TiO2 is an important component of photoelectric devices, and building heterojunctions with narrow band gap semiconductors is an important measure to improve its photoelectric performance. In this study, BiVO4/TiO2 binary heterojunction was prepared and its performance was analyzed. Furthermore, a Bi2S3/BiVO4/TiO2 ternary heterojunction was formed to enhance the photocurrent. This study provides an effective strategy for the construction of new multicomponent heterojunctions and offers a basis for the application of Bi2S3/BiVO4/TiO2 in the optoelectronic field.

Summary: The limited amount of metal ions that can be extracted reversibly from a cathode is a major issue for metal-ion batteries, leading to decreased capacity and energy density. Pre-alkaliation of cathode materials with solutions of alkali metal salts derived from aromatic molecules can be a reliable and scalable approach to address this challenge. This method is applicable for various cathode materials and can be used for lithium, sodium, or potassium-ion batteries.

Summary: The study of two samples of mixed metal powders taken from a workplace of surface metallisation revealed that despite similar chemical composition, one of the powders showed significantly increased reactivity in aerial oxygen resulting in self-heating. The main reason for this difference was found to be a variance in particle size distribution, which was attributed to nonsymmetric branching of the suction piping.

Summary: Boron is a promising fuel for energetic materials due to its high energy density when combined with CuO and Bi2O3 in thermite reactions. The application of LASEM technique has enabled the quantification of energy release and excitation temperatures of B/metal oxide samples on microsecond and millisecond timescales. The enhancement of ignition in these composites contributes to the early-time energy release, as shown by relative measurements in agreement with bomb calorimetry and DSC analysis. Additionally, the strong affinity of CuO for both B and Bi2O3 leads to a synergetic enhancement effect in the binary metal oxide mixture.

Summary: This research introduces a novel binder-free electrodeposition process at intermediate temperature to grow layered sodium transition metal oxides, showing potential as cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. The electrodeposited oxides retain key structural and electrochemical properties observed in high-temperature synthesized materials. This method overcomes intrinsic challenges in traditional electrodeposition of ceramic oxides, opening up a new avenue for processing air- and moisture-sensitive high valent multinary structures.
