Summary: The study found that abnormal body mass index, white blood cell count, and modified SAMe-TT(2)R(2)score were independent predictors of being out of the therapeutic range (oTR) for digoxin. A modified SAMe-TT(2)R(2)score greater than 3 predicted oTR with a sensitivity of 86% and a specificity of 65%.

Summary: Research post-Spanish flu pandemic highlighted the importance of airborne transmission in virus contagion. Understanding of turbulent aerosol transport has significantly progressed, allowing for detailed study of disease transmission. Experiments showed significant variations in droplets' evaporation or condensation under different environmental conditions, challenging previous predictions.

Summary: Exposure to modulated 2.4-GHz EMR at a nonthermal output level significantly increases wakefulness time and decreases NREM and REM time in mice. In contrast, unmodulated 2.4-GHz EMR at the same output level has little impact on mouse sleep patterns. These findings suggest that alteration of sleep architecture in mice is a specific physiological response to prolonged exposure to wireless-range EMR.

Summary: This study aimed to monitor contamination by antineoplastic drugs on work surfaces in a compounding unit for 4 years. By analyzing the contamination rate, critical incidents, and safety measures, it was found that the overall contamination rate decreased after the unit's opening and the implementation of corrective actions.

Summary: This study explores the equity impact of implementing a minimum unit pricing (MUP) policy for alcohol in South Africa. The findings suggest that MUP would lead to a greater reduction in alcohol consumption among poorer drinkers, but challenges remain in addressing income inequality. The policy has significant effects on the bottom two wealth quintiles, including reductions in mortality rates, healthcare cost savings, and averted catastrophic health expenditures.

Summary: Wild boars hunted in Santa Catarina, Brazil, were found to carry various pathogens, including PCV2, Leptospira, and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, indicating their potential role in pathogen transmission. Although important notifiable diseases like CSFV were not detected, the presence of antibodies against commercial production-affecting pathogens such as PCV2 and M. hyopneumoniae suggests circulation of these agents among wild populations.

Summary: This study evaluated the presence of thermotolerant Campylobacter in different reservoirs at the farm and the persistence of this pathogen during four consecutive rearing periods. The results showed that Campylobacter jejuni was the most common species, and the use of enrofloxacin had an impact on the Campylobacter population, leading to a shift in species proportions. Further research is needed to identify Campylobacter sources between rearing periods.

Summary: This study compares the hospital admission and 30-day mortality rates between patients assessed by the prehospital assessment unit (PAU) and those not assessed by the PAU. The study finds that patients assessed by the PAU have lower rates of hospital admission within 48 hours and 7 days after the initial call, but there is no significant difference in 30-day mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of subacute TBT exposure on aortic vascular reactivity in male rats. The results showed that TBT exposure increased testosterone levels, exhibited obesogenic properties, and caused an increase in vasoconstriction and a decrease in eNOS activity. In addition, TBT exposure also led to an increase in oxidative stress parameters and aortic intima-media thickness.
