Summary: A case of stuttering priapism in a recently castrated male Doberman dog is reported. This is the first report of this condition in a dog. Management consists of treating each new episode as an episode of acute ischemic priapism and using oral medications to prevent recurrence.

Summary: The study found significant correlations between penile Doppler ultrasonography parameters and shear wave elastography values. Quantitative measurement of shear wave elastography values can be used to evaluate penile arterial blood supply during penile Doppler ultrasonography examination, which is of great significance.

Summary: Recent research has enhanced the understanding of the molecular pathophysiology underlying RIP and paved the way for new therapeutic agents. Medications targeting neurovascular, hormonal, and hematological mechanisms associated with RIP show promise in addressing the condition. A variety of therapeutic agents acting in different mechanistic directions can be implemented according to a clinical management scheme to potentially optimize outcomes for RIP.

Summary: This article reviews the literature on ischemic priapism and focuses on factors that predict the exact timeline of irreversible cavernous tissue injury. The study finds that longer durations of priapism result in more severe tissue damage, but ischemic priapism reversed within 6-12 hours may preserve erectile function in many patients.

Summary: This study established a mouse model with protruded genitalia phenotype (PGP), similar to priapism, and identified a novel gene mutation for PGP. The researchers evaluated the role of phospholipids, specifically phosphatidylinositol (PI), during penile erection and found that abnormalities in the PI signaling pathway may contribute to priapism. These findings provide a potential novel therapeutic target for the treatment of priapism.

Summary: The circadian rhythm, generated by circadian clock genes, regulates various physiological processes in organisms. Disturbed rhythms can lead to metabolic syndrome, inflammatory disorders, and cancer. Recent data suggest that the circadian clock regulates the penis, and altered sleep-wake cycles can affect erectile function.

Summary: This study compared the differences in measuring penile curvature between at-home self-photography and in-office penile drug injection. It found that at-home self-photography underestimated the extent of penile curvature. The study also showed that men with erectile dysfunction have a larger difference in the measured degree of penile curvature between at-home self-photography and in-office penile drug injection.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of timing of penile prosthesis placement after ischemic priapism on complications. The results showed that delayed placement beyond 6 months significantly increased the complication rates compared to early placement within 6 months. Early referral and surgery can effectively reduce complications in patients with ischemic priapism.

Summary: In this study, an innovative liposomal microbubble (MB) loaded with both Sildenafil (one of PDE5i) and NO was designed. Ultrasound-targeted MB destruction (UTMD)-mediated efficient release and integration erectogenic agents into corpus cavernosum with high biosafety. The coordinated intervention of the multifunctional MB-cooperated UTMD reversed the abnormal structural remodeling and promoted the recovery of functional erection.

Summary: Penile implants are surgically inserted devices used to treat erectile dysfunction. Advances in surgical techniques and implant manufacturing have reduced complications and increased the popularity of this therapy. Routine imaging before surgery is not recommended. MRI plays a crucial role in detecting and managing postoperative complications, allowing evaluation of implant positioning and function.

Summary: Priapism is a condition characterized by persistent or prolonged erection unrelated to sexual stimulation, which can lead to erectile dysfunction. Penile prosthesis implantation is a treatment option for refractory low flow priapism, but it is associated with higher complication rates.
