Summary: Developing an ideal vitreous substitute/implant is a challenge, as there is a high risk of bacterial infection associated with implants. In this study, a bacterial resistant vitreous implant was developed by incorporating the antibiotic meropenem into a hydrogel. The hydrogel showed desired biocompatibility, transparency, water content, and viscoelasticity, making it suitable for vitreous substitute.

Summary: In this study, a series of glycosides of oligosaccharides of hyaluronic acid (o-HAs) were synthesized and their effects on osteoarthritis (OA) progression were examined. The results showed that o-HA derivatives had similar therapeutic mechanisms to high molecular weight hyaluronic acid in alleviating OA. This study supports the potential of oligosaccharide-mediated therapy for OA.

Summary: This paper focuses on the preparation of nanofibrous layers produced from hydrophobized derivatives of hyaluronan for potential uses in regenerative medicine. The structural modification expands the material's range of potential applications, making it breathable, mechanically stable, and non-toxic to cells. The self-supporting nanofibrous matrix can be used as a scaffold or porous wound dressing.

Summary: The interaction of CD44, a non-kinase transmembrane glycoprotein, with ligands like hyaluronic acid plays a crucial role in tumor occurrence and development. Changes in CD44 glycosylation can regulate multiple signaling pathways, impacting the tumor microenvironment and cell fate. However, our current understanding of CD44 glycosylation and its effects on tumors is limited.

Summary: Hyaluronic acid (HA) is crucial for maintaining the stability of tissue's internal environment. Its decreasing levels with age lead to age-related health problems, which can be prevented or treated by exogenous HA supplements. Probiotics, on the other hand, have the potential to promote endogenous HA synthesis and alleviate symptoms caused by HA loss.

Summary: Micro/nanomotors have shown great potential in drug delivery and controlled release, especially in the fields of cancer treatment and lab-on-a-chip devices. Hyaluronic acid is a commonly used material for drug delivery due to its biocompatibility and non-immunogenicity. Cold atmospheric plasma is an emerging technology that can enhance drug release and bioavailability. This study successfully synthesized gold-hyaluronic acid micromotors and investigated their application in drug release.

Summary: The intrahepatic biliary epithelium plays a significant role in excreting bicarbonate in bile. Recent studies have shown that budesonide enhances the efficacy of ursodeoxycholic acid in primary biliary cholangitis patients. This study investigates the effects of dexamethasone-loaded nanohydrogels (NHs) on transport processes in the biliary epithelium and liver injury induced by experimental cholestasis. The results suggest that NHs/dex formulation could be a promising candidate for further investigation in preclinical models of cholangiopathies.
