Summary: This study aimed to test the hypothesis that performance validity tests (PVTs) assess objective test performance credibility, symptom validity tests (SVTs) assess subjective complaints credibility, and PVTs and SVTs are independent measures. The results showed that PVTs were related to cognitive tests and unrelated to self-reported measures, while SVTs were related to self-reported measures and cognitive tests of attention and processing speed. Therefore, PVTs and SVTs are two independent measures of validity.

Summary: This study found inconsistencies in the use of validity testing in Australia, with clinicians in clinical settings relying more on subjective judgements than objective test findings. Lack of time was cited as the main barrier to incorporating validity tests, indicating a need for more time-efficient methods. Australian guidelines for validity testing in neuropsychological assessments are urgently needed to address validity test failure rates in clinical settings.

Summary: This study assessed the effect of cognitive load manipulation on feigning strategies. The results showed that the manipulation reduced the quantity of feigning strategies and affected their composition. This suggests that reduced cognitive resources may impact the use of in-vivo feigning strategies among those feigning cognitive impairment.

Summary: The present study developed a national non-verbal cognitive ability test in Turkey, which was validated through various reliability and validity analyses. Test-retest, split-halves, KR-20, and KR-21 methods were applied for reliability analyses. The results showed that the test had high internal consistency and reliability.

Summary: This article discusses the statistical and methodological issues in the forensic neuropsychological determination of malingering based on PVTs and SVTs, and calls for further research. These commentaries further deepen the doubts about the scientific basis of current neuropsychological practices.

Summary: The study showed that early institutional deprivation was associated with neuropsychological deficits in adulthood, including problems with prospective memory, decision-making, and emotion recognition. There was a positive correlation between ADHD and ASD symptoms, with ADHD symptoms being more strongly associated with deficits in IQ, prospective memory, proactive inhibition, decision-making, and emotion recognition. ASD symptoms were not independently associated with neuropsychological deficits when considering their overlap with ADHD symptoms.

Summary: This study compared different patterns of memory impairment in patients with two subtypes of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) and healthy controls. The results showed that patients with MRI-neg MTLE and HS-MTLE took longer time to complete the short-term memory game compared to healthy controls. The eye tracking data were significantly correlated with the scores of the Wechsler Memory Scale. This study provides important insights for clinical diagnosis and long-term monitoring of patients with epilepsy.

Summary: The Floodlight GaitLab study described in this protocol aims to evaluate the analytical and clinical validity of Floodlight gait and balance tests. Approximately 100 PwMS and 35 healthy controls will participate in the study to explore properties such as concurrent validity, reliability of digital measures, ecological validity, and construct validity compared with clinician- and patient-reported assessments. This study represents a critical step in the technical validation of Floodlight technology and will contribute to the development of new test designs and algorithms.

Summary: The Victoria Symptom Validity Test (VSVT) is a performance validity test with over two decades of empirical backing. The Total item accuracy produced the strongest psychometric properties, with an optimal cut-score of <= 40. The independent cross-validation sample supported cut-scores derived from previous findings.
