Summary: This study proposes the energy modernization of a group of hospitals in south-western Europe through the installation of photovoltaic self-consumption systems based on their electricity consumption patterns. By examining the energy demand of these hospitals and designing photovoltaic systems, it is found that a significant portion of the annual electricity demand can be covered, potentially reducing CO2 emissions.

Summary: Gamma-ray-induced positron annihilation spectroscopy allows for measuring sample spectra without source contributions, as positrons are directly generated inside the sample from gamma rays. A new positron age-momentum correlation measurement system using ultrashort pulsed gamma rays has been developed in this study, showing promising results in distinguishing defects in materials.

Summary: Dislocation motion is crucial for the hardening, processing, and application of various materials. Previous studies have observed dislocation motion in crystalline solids under mechanical loading. However, controlling dislocation motion solely using a non-mechanical field has been challenging.

Summary: We investigate momentum-resolved tunneling into a system of spinless chiral one-dimensional fermions, such as electrons at the edge of an integer quantum Hall system. Interactions between particles cause broadening of the system's spectral function. We develop an approach that allows us to obtain the shape of the peak in the spectral function in the regime of strong interaction. We apply this technique to the cases of short-range and Coulomb interactions.

Summary: The experiments demonstrated that BQ particles exhibit transient flocking behavior on the liquid surface, with their shape and self-organization potential playing a key role. By utilizing a mass-action kinetic framework, the study analyzed the flocking behavior of particles and showed that irregularly shaped BQ particles have a greater tendency to form flocks.

Summary: This study analyzes hourly wind direction and speed data from six subregions along the Itacaiunas River watershed (IRW), Eastern Amazon, over a period of one year. The data is collected from six hydrometeorological stations located in different land use and plant cover areas within the IRW. The study identifies different wind patterns based on prevailing wind directions and speeds at different stations, as well as the influence of environmental factors such as plant cover, land use, and topography. Additionally, the study observes the presence of breeze and mesoscale circulation systems during daytime and nighttime wind cycles.

Summary: This study examines the convergence of CO2 emissions at state-level in the USA from 1976 to 2014. The majority of states are converging towards a cross-section average, with only a few states showing non-convergence. Additionally, the findings show that USA states are forming four clubs based on convergence patterns.

Summary: This article compares four different solar combined heating and power systems in an individual house in Chambery, France, aiming to find the optimal design using genetic algorithm based on thermoeconomic indicator. The study also evaluates the solutions against each other and the reference case using various indicators such as solar self-production, energy produced by solar panels, and fuel savings. Despite economic barriers, solar thermal collectors with grid-driven electric boiler show potential as an economical competitor to gas boilers, while photovoltaic systems could become more competitive when coupled with a heat pump.

Summary: This paper studies the semilocal convergence of the King-Werner iterative method in Banach space, under a gamma-type condition. The convergence of the method is proven under weaker conditions, requiring only hypotheses up to the second Frechet derivative of the involved operator. Moreover, the applicability of the result is illustrated with numerical examples.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel analytical unified approach based on the fast and flexible holomorphic embedding method for solving the multiple energy flow problem in integrated energy systems. The power flow equations of different networks are holomorphically embedded in a recursive form, and a unified solution form is obtained to solve the energy flow of all networks uniformly. The Newton-Raphson method is used to assist in selecting the initial guess for better performance.

Summary: In this paper, a line tension model for dislocations in 3D is derived starting from a geometrically nonlinear elastic energy with quadratic growth. In the asymptotic analysis, it is shown that as the amplitude of the Burgers vectors tends to zero, the elastic energy linearizes and the line tension energy density is identified by the linearized cell problem formula provided in a previous study.
