Summary: This study found that Salvia miltiorrhiza polysaccharide (SMP) can improve the immune function and disease resistance of sturgeon. In vitro experiments showed that SMP could activate the macrophages of sturgeon, while in vivo experiments demonstrated that dietary supplementation with SMP enhanced immune cell activity and resistance to bacterial infection in sturgeon.

Summary: This study reveals the downregulation of energy metabolism-related proteins and upregulation of iron-related proteins in high OXY-resistant strains. Deletion of four TonB-dependent receptor-coded genes does not affect susceptibility to OXY, but shows different evolution rates in spontaneous OXY evolution compared with the wildtype strain, especially for AHA_0971 and AHA_4251. This suggests the important role of TonB-dependent receptor proteins in bacterial antibiotics resistance evolution and offers a potential new prophylactic strategy against antibiotic resistance development.

Summary: Aeromonas hydrophila is a common pathogen in freshwater aquaculture that can also cause health problems in humans. Antibiotic-resistant strains of A. hydrophila are a concern as they limit antibiotic usage and can lead to treatment failure. Additionally, antibiotic residues in aquatic products pose a risk to quality and safety. This study explores alternative strategies to combat infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria, focusing on palmatine, a compound that inhibits the expression of a key virulence factor in A. hydrophila. The findings suggest that palmatine could be a promising treatment for A. hydrophila-associated infections in aquaculture.

Summary: This study analyzed 17 complete genomes of A. hydrophila isolates to determine the contribution of genomic islands to this species. Variations in the number and characteristics of predicted genomic islands were found between phylogenetic groups, with some containing virulence, metabolism, and resistance genes. Strains from different phylogenetic groups showed distinctive genomic island features, with potential contributions to host colonization and environmental competitiveness.

Summary: This study focuses on the antibacterial activity and potential efficiency of Chlorella vulgaris dietary supplements on the immune response, growth performance, and disease resistance of Labeo rohita fingerlings against Aeromonas hydrophila infection. The results suggest that Chlorella supplementation at a dosage of 0.5-1.0 g Kg(-1) can enhance the fish's immunity and protect them from A. hydrophila infection.

Summary: This study examined the role of transcriptional regulators in enoxacin resistance in Aeromonas hydrophila and found that deletion of ahslyA up-regulated key antibiotic resistance proteins under ENX stress, reducing pressure by preventing activation of the SOS repair system. The research also revealed a complex regulatory network involving at least 11 TRs induced by ahslyA, and identified specific genes that may contribute to ENX resistance. Overall, the data demonstrated the significant role of ahslyA in ENX resistance and provided new insights into transcriptional regulation effects on antibiotic resistance in bacteria.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of dietary incorporation of olive leaf extract (OLE) on the growth performance, immune response, and antioxidant capacity of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). The results showed that the OLE at a dose of 0.1% improved the growth performance, immune response, and antioxidant capacity of the fish. However, higher doses of OLE should be avoided to prevent oxidative stress.
