In this paper, we have studied the hydrolysis process of -y-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (gamma-APS) at ethanol-water solution by means of Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR and DRIFT). Films of gamma-APS with different hydrolysis time are formed on copper surface. 2 h is chosen as the best hydrolysis time of gamma-APS in ethanol water solution. We have also investigated the chemisorbed gamma-APS film onto copper surface at different dried conditions. We have used DRIFT and contact angle techniques to characterize the formed films. Curing or aging curing treatment leads to additional polymerization, better interconnected networks, increase in the silane quality and/or more robust silane layer and more hydrophilic copper surface.
